I have to respectfully disagree with the Spill crew in this review. The first two films strayed from the source material for a bit. But Spider-man 3 I give it a F**k You! rating Sam Raimi took my #1 favorite villain Venom and purposely cut him down in the film. In the original Eddie was originally going to have a cameo, and he was cut out completely. He only makes it in the novel version of the original Spider-man.

They twisted the whole Sandman accidently caused Uncle Ben to die are you shitting me. Let me put it this way I got Spider-man 3 on dvd when it was first released. And I haven't bothered to watch it again not even for the special features that's how much I hate this movie.

while I agree spill are lot softer reviewers than most reviewers out there, that is sort of why I watch them, they are not reviewers par-say, they are just group of good friends talking about films they have seen which gives far more honest review.

So it makes me laugh how their userbase which normally equally soft turns so badly on this film. Do not get me wrong, I know this film is by no means great, but it is no worse than 90% of other average action/superhero fic's out there. People rave about transformers and ironman all time and such average films which are no different from this in their delivery or pace. <<

=Now the problems with this film are obvious:

1-too much going on, could have removed the sandman completely and just had evil spider for bit/venom or this one of rare times, I would say split it into two, have evil spider v sandman (or another villain as to be honest, sandman sucks) in one film and then have Venom in next

2-characters like eddie brock and sandman are not strongest characters in world anyway and here portrayed badly. Plus to me seemed lot of side-characters were unneeded and literally just thrown in there because in comic

3-evil spider was more laughable douche than evil <<......I didn't actually dislike evil spider and in another film would have found him and his dancing enjoyable, but here I want something little more evil <<

4-venom, if going to make coolest monster ever, base the whole film on it, not just 20 minutes thrown together at end.

that being said, the  action was well choreographed and though two going on meant film was poorly paced, I could at least follow what was going on in what could have been good plot of revenge, so still low matiee to me

    Spider-Man 1 - Matinee 8.7

    Spider-Man 2 - Better than Sex 9.6

    Spider-Man 3 - Rental 6.7

Sandman was unnecessary and a crying bitch, not enough of Venom,                                                                 (Topher Grace was good as Eddie Brock, but a bad Venom)

Kristen Dunst as Mary Jane in this one was huge bitch

    Not enough of Spider-Man

Too much going on... Venom was nowhere near the badass he was in the animated series, Sandman was just unnessesary and Harry Osborne 'The skateboard airsurfing green goblin'? William dafoe should be pissed he butchered his character like that... Spiderman 1 was great, 2 was cool but this one was crap-pie...

I've never possessed the hatred for this film that seems to exist on the Internet. I found it to be quite enjoyable. It just wasn't anywhere near the jaw-dropping awesomness that was Spiderman 1 and 2. It was actually a lot closer atmosphere-wise to the comics: very corny, and emo-Peter. While I preferred the more serious tone of the first 2 Spidey films, the dancing sequence was the kind of oddball "where the fuck did this come from?" humor from the Evil Dead series that made me love Sam Raimi in the first place. Also, Raimi directs some badass fight sequences. Matinee.

??? what movie did u guys go see... this is a superhero movie with a musical interlude, i guess sam raimi thinks dancing is evil cause thats about as "brutal" as the black suite gets?? and wtf was with the green goblin snow board?

I hate super hero movies. This was ultimate cliche of a super hero movie. The acting, dialouge, and script, and characters were are all bad. However, the action sequences are amazing. The characters were so bad, I thought that the guy who was venom and the guy who was the goblin's son were the same. I don't like spiderman at all. I saw the first mildly upset, out of the 2nd just pissed, and this one somewhere in between. I will not want to live to see another spiderman movie. I give it rental. But my brother gave it low Matine.

i'm sorry, i usually agree with wat you guys have to say, but spiderman 3 is the wosrt and most inaccurate spiderman movie created, they abolished sandman and hobgoblins characters, as well as venom, what i mean is they had all this hype for venom, then they had him in the movie for only around 15 minutes. some ole bull *@#!

i agree with you guys i do think that there were some incredibly badass action sequences in this film but i also believe that they shouldve cut out some scenesthat wouldve made the movie much better ex. his saturday night fever stage (walking down the street gun point buying a new suit and dancing in the night club.) although it made me laugh it was highley unnecessary and they should work on venom's character just like you said

Few know this, Darth vader was going to be maskless. The actor got screwed over. They said they would show his face and they didn't. They also switched his voice out for James earl jones'. I know this has nothing to do with SM 3 but oh well

I know this is very late, but I came across this after the new Spiderman 4 announcement. This movie was very poor. Action was okay, only average compared to Spiderman 2. The script and story was absolutely terrible! I swear, Sam Raimi was intentionally making this a b movie from when Spidey got the black suit. It was so bad I laughed.

Very low rental. I gotta side against the review. I thought the movie was a massive disappointment with weak writing, weak character development, weak acting, weak directing, hell just weak everything except action and special effects. There was way too much going on and Raimi did a bad job balancing it. I'm sad to say that because I'm a fan of the guy but he really messed this one up. The cheese factor was way over the top. The entire sequence when Peter becomes "bad" Peter was ridiculous. I felt sorry for anyone involved in that sequence even if they were just an extra. They totally butchered Harry Osbourne's storyline. All of that build up over the last two films just to get to a 60's Batman & Robin style back to back fight with Spiderman was such a let down. What was up with that stupid amnesia storyline for Harry? Plots are supposed to move forward not backward. I thought Venom couldn't have been handled any worse. They shoved so much crap into this movie that they only gave him the last 20 min to do anything. Sandman started off interesting with his backstory but quickly became one dimensional as the story moved forward. I hear that Raimi is promising the fans that when he does the next installment that it will be better. I hope he can deliver.

holy crap we could go on for hours about how horrible this was. some say i'm picky. I say youre happy with a few flashing lights and fireworks and you think OSCAR!!!!!!! not to mention dont take a role of a masked character if your gonna bitch moan and groan that your face isnt on screen. we know whose under the spider mask we know whose under venom we know whose under the new "DO THE DEW EXTREME" goblin we dont need to see your face for every line you spit out. I'm new to spill and i like their stuff and was just randomly looking through old reviews and couldnt believe what i saw here.

This movie was terrible the only people who could of liked it are people who go to a movie just to watch fights and cgi, But for people who go to a movie for the main reason which is the story and characters this was a huge letdown. The first two spidermans did a good job of drawing you in with the story and really made you feel for the characters, This one hardly did any character development and threw in 3 villians with no where near enough time to develop all of their stories. I mean my god VENOM probably the best spiderman villain had hardly any story to him and was hardly even around in the movie, this was a big joke of a movie and they need to get back to what makes all movies great to name specifically other good superhero movies "batman Begins, The Dark Knight,Spiderman 1 and 2,Iron Man,X-men 1 and 2". GET BACK TO THE STORY AND CHARACTERS, STOP TREATING THE MOVIE GOERS LIKE 10 YEAR OLD CHILDREN JUST LOOKING FOR CGI AND EXPLOSIONS.

I absolutely hated this movie. From the lack of character development to the ridiculous dancing/emo act... The fight scenes were great, but there just weren't enough for me. The special effects, I'll admit, were well done. But my biggest problem with the film was the lack of Venom. Maybe if they didn't try to advertise him like a huge villain, I wouldn't have been so tough on this movie. I mean really, that "Venom is coming" trailer got me so pumped... Then I left the movie thinking "Wow. They put every good Venom scene into a 30 second trailer." What I think they should've done is not had Venom in this movie at all; rather, at the end, showing Peter removing the black suit and the symbiote infect Eddie, but after the final fight with Sandman/New Goblin. Then have Venom as the big solo villain in the next film. SOBS, easily.

man, im still all butt-hurt about this movie... between the disco stu dance number and the way sandman was smashing spidey one minute then as soon as the tables are turned... he is like "ummm... i know i just turned into a giant hammer n hit you 20times... but... ummm, my bad... im just gunna go cause my lil girl is at home and needs a positive male role model in her life... the kind of role model that only her father (an escaped fellon who just happened to be there and watched as your uncle died) can be. and the monolog that alfred... or jarvis... or whatever the butlers name was, that he gave, it couldnt have been more dry if they left his ole wrinkled behind out in the desert. SOME OLE......BULLSH!T.

I agree with Korey I give this movie a matinea its my least favorite of the spider man movies it went over the top with the characters and I thought it took too long to indroduce venom and it did have too much going on and I didn't like the speical effects oo much the snadman effect was good but like the opening when harry and spiderman are fighting I thought it looked a little gamey but the movie is fun for a action movie and it will please most spider man fans I just like the first two better. One more thing when I saw it the first time I did like it I gave it low full price but know I watch it again but now I can see why people were dissing it and I agreed with them it went to much with character , and effects so I give it a Matinea

I do have to say there was infact too much going on in this movie. But I think there was a reason for it, I think he may of been testing out how well a bunch of villains would work at 1 time in a movie. Generally speaking comic movies tend to stick with 1 or 2 villains at most, but he broke through and tried 3. I just dont think it worked very well the way he did it. If they had the symbiote in the movie taking over like it did with Peter. Have Peter taking out Flint and Harry, and ending it with the bell scene with Eddie under him for the symbiote to grab onto. This would of led to a perfect segway to a 4th movie of an all out fight between Spidey and Venom.
