I'm going to be totally honest with this movie...I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton,Johnny Depp,Helena Bonham Carter,Alan Rickman, and Timothy Spell. This movie just happen to be my all time favorite from Tim Burton's movies.I do like certain musicals...I also enjoyed some of the numbers...One was where Sweeney and Lovett were talking about getting revenge on everyone, and one where while Sweeney gives up on seeing his daughter, his friend Anthony is searching for her.The plot was good and the ending let me crying which is not something that happens.I'm giving this movie a full price...Even with Sweeney Todd's problems, this just worked out even though Johnny Depp is not a singer and the songs had to be redirected for him to sing it.

Alright, Immah be honest... I don't like musicals and didn't knew this one was a musical right until I began watching but I still thought it was pretty alright. The songs were kinda bad and improvised, sure I'm not expecting ehm to have clever and catchy lyrics for every situation but some of ehm just felt lazy and forced nevertheless there was a couple of ehm I liked. The story was quite interesting and I enjoyed it allthrought to give it a solid Matinee.

So, maybe it was Johnny Depp, maybe it was sasha baran cohen (i know I royally screwed up that spelling...), maybe it was Tim Burton, maybe it was just Alan Rickman saying "gander" four times in a sentence, but I loved this movie. It was so dark and drab and spooky, and then some of the characters were just so vibrant. This was a step away from some of the Tim Burton whimsy-ness that he usually comes with (maybe that's all thanks to Elfman...), but the story is already twisted up enough. It looked great, my only complaint was that some of the numbers were dragging me just a tad, but others were so enjoyable, like "Try the Priest" and "Purelli's Elixer." "My friends" I liked but not my favorite, which goes to "By the Sea," which looks and sounds wonderful. I do have a soft spot for "Nothing's Gonna Harm You," and anyone who didn't like "pretty women" has GOT to be joking. All in all there were so many great elements that I found it impossible to not like. Matinee all the way!

This was off the hook! I enjoyed the whole film. I'm not too partial to musicals, but I make an exception for this and Hairspray. Johnny Depp scared me in this movie. It was gory!

If you like musicals, you could like this one. I do not and even i thought this movie was okay. Great cast, good acting. Better than average sining. bad singers were kept to a minimum, most of the characters are likeable. liked the direction with it too much singing, color/dark contrast was kinda dumb, romance thing was dumb, character were annoying, not a fan of tim burton, I'm with leon on this one. RENTAL

I have to either give it a LOW MATINEE or RENTAL myself. The movie was alright, but it just dragged on and on. Now I didn't see it in the theater and bought it on the reviews and word of mouth of people who saw it, but upon finishing it it would be a movie I would go to if there was nothing else worth seeing, and I didn't have to pay to see it.

I belive that this is the best film that I have seen since the nightmare before Christmas. It di dhave some flaws but still. For one, I missed that Tim Burton did not put itn "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" and other songs. I think the fil could of used more action. I give it a full price. I love this movie and everything about it!

What a great movie, based on the hit Broadway musical which tell the story of Benjamin Barker a.k.a Sweeney Todd who returns to London after many years in jail to prepare his vengeance against Judge Turpin with the help of mysterious Mrs Lovett. It is the classic type of movie Tim Burton use to make, although its a musical it has a pretty sense of mystery and suspense, it also has some very good moments of black humor. The photography is excellent, everything so dark and creepy. The soundtrack is simply wonderful, it is a plus to the film that makes it even more enjoyable. The cast is just perfect, Johnny Depp with a flawless performance, Sweeney Todd is that kind of role that fits him very well, with the surprise that he didn't sing that bad, no wonder why he earned that Oscar nomination for best actor. Helena Bonham Carter is also wonderful in the role of Mrs. Lovett, watching her performance was a real joy. Alan Rickman was excellent as Judge Turpin and the supporting roles from Sacha Baron Cohen, Timothy Spall, Jamie Campbell Bower and Jayne Wisener were a very good complement. This is definitely one of the best movies of the year and one of the best musical I've ever seen, its really a pity that it has just a few nominations because it really deserves a lot more

Before I write my opinion, I just want to say. I am not the biggest Tim Burton fan around, nor am I much of a fan of Johnny Depp. I wasn't expecting much from this movie, and ended up walking out of it after about a half hour because the songs just hurt my ears and it just seemed really ridiculous as a movie. Now, Tim Burton has some great movies, but for me, he needs to do something new. We all know he can do 'gothic weird' stuff and put it into his movies in a creative way...I just would hope he would do something different than that. Johnny Depp on the other hand, he might be a good actor, but I am getting so tired of him. Johnny Depp stars in Corpse Bride Willy Wonka Pirates 1,2,3 Sweeney ect... Yes, he can play some crazy characters, but c'mon, way to much Johnny Depp.

I found it difficult to follow in places cos I got bored of listening to everyone singing when I just wanted people to talk for a while. Other than that it was pretty good.

I thought this was a very good movie, not like, award winning or anything, but definitely worth seeing. The actual musical numbers were great, but the sequences where they were just talking musically kind of ruined it, I just wanted some dialogue at that point.

All of Sweeny and Mrs. Lovett's goth make-up make them look like sleep-deprived emo corpses in a morgue!!

It's was great for a Hollywood film. Hollywood messes up a lot of movies but this was just like the ply and it was great. Johnny Depp did i wondereful job considering he's not a singer. The acting was superb! I think tim Burtn deserves a round of applause for this film.No other hollywood film director could have done it. And if you dont like musicals what's the point in even going to see it.
