I saw it and I actually liked it.

I think they got the right atmosphere, there's growing tension and there's suspense based on the fact that the girl might or might not be the victim of psychosis due to her upbringing.

The ending is a little hushed in my opinion and it kind of deconstructs all the movie was building yet I had fun watching it.

I actually like this kind of movie (I liked the first Blair Witch Project). I find it scarier when we don't know what is out there.

Somehow I'm not into gorefests such as the Saw movies.

I've seen more horror on Sesame Street!!! This movie was definitely not scary! But I did kinda enjoyed it, but it will never be on any top 10 in my book. This was not anything like "The Exorcist" that's still the scariest movie ever made.

@Sara Forrester: .....PWAH HA HA HA HA!!!!!! (wipes away tear) I'm sorry about that, but after Last Airbender, seeing Shyamalan's name on any movie leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. Unless DEVIL ends up surprisng the world, I'll pass. Now, about this movie: Great acting, especially from Ashley Bell and Fabian. Two of my favorite horror movie preformances ever. And the movie was actually thoughtful. It's not often you see an exorcist movie question whether or not the possess-ee is actually possessed, or just screwed up by her super fundamental Christian father and other factors of her life I won't say due to spoilers. Creepy, thought provoking horror movie??? It was fantastic!!!! .......until the end. I've never seen a great movie implode and turn into complete bullshit in under 5 minutes. It was pretty impressive, actually, the way the filmmakers managed to insult the intelligence of both the film and the audience in that short amount of time. I gives it a high Rental. (sigh) So much potential.......

I do agree that the movie was 2/3 good and that the ending took a lot out of it, but I wasn't really that surprised that the ending was terrible and cliche, because they touched up on another painfully bad cliche on their way to it. I knew this movie was going to have a crappy ending after the scene where she bludgeoned the cat to death with the camera (which is shown in the review, so don't nobody call spoiler police on me). Think about it. How many horror movies have included a family pet that was NOT the very first victim (movies where the pet and killer were one and the same like Pet Sematery and Cujo don't count). Apart from the original Alien film, I can't think of any. I get why they do that, but it's still a ridiculously overused cliche. So when they resorted to that crap, I wasn't surprised that they pulled out a crappy cliche ending either.

Well, sometimes these reviews really work as a kind of extended trailers to some movies. This review really spiked my interested. I liked the images I saw and I want to see for myself whether the ending is really that bad. Good job, guys.

Man.. I hate it when a mostly good film crashes and burns like that in the closing scene. If they had just ended the movie without going back to the house that final time, I would easily give this film a full price. The characters were, for the most part, surprisingly well-developed, and the acting was consistantly above-par throughout. The premise also took me off gaurd; I found the relationship between the father and daughter especially eriee. Which is really what makes the ending so painful to watch. It's almost as though some producer called in Sam Raimi to remake the original Rosemary's Baby, and they spliced that ending onto the last minutes of The Last Exorcism; It completely derails the film to the point where yeah, I honestly wouldn't have been surprised to have spotted Predator, Megatron and He Man battling the forces of darkness somewhere in that last reel. It just left a bad taste in my mouth, and personally brings the entire film down to a low rental in my book.

Fuck this movie. Everything good about the movie was in the trailers. Everything else sucked. The ending sucked, it wasn't as scary as I hoped, and the girl didn't act possessed. She acted like she was having a seizure. I would rather burn the money I spent on this movie then see it. Don't even watch it at a friends house or online. It's not even worth seeing for free.

Eh, i gave it a rental/some ol' bull. idk there was like only 9 to 11 people in the theater wit me. and I went at night. I dont think anyone really cared for this movie becuz they think its just like all the others. And they were right

Sorry guys but this is one I can't go with you on. This film was just terrible and the ending was so bad it just destroyed any good qualities the film may have had. Everybody was walking out of the theater going "man, that sucked." And it sucked because we all stayed till the very end so we couldn't get our money back!

I saw this movie last night. This definately was Some ol' Bullshit. There were so many people leaving before this movie even came to an end. I have never seen so many people leave early. I was fighting the urge to leave the theater myself. The worst part of the movie was the end. At the end Everybody booed this movie. I usually agree with the spill crew, but this is some ol bullshit. Yes some of the actors do an excellent job with their parts. However the script is so bad, that great acting couldn't even bring this film to Matinee level for me. Terrible. I hope you guys at spill are not being affected by which film is willing to give you advertising dollars. Boooooooooooo.
