I fell in love with this film after seeing it the first time I loved the plot the fantasic acting all round the enviroment and because i'm a christian I loved it even more. I was definetly surprised by the big twist left at the end (don't worry no spoilers) I felt a message after watching this movie which is that the word of God was so powerful that put into the wrong hands to try and manipulate people would cause huge destruction but in the right hands it can do great good.

Many people kept saying that this movie is a waste of money and is the worst movie ever. But in my opinion, I think.. This movie is F-ing awesome!!! I guess it is about a man delivering the only left holy bible to this secret place and there are people who want to take it away from him. Something that surprised me was the big surprise at the end. Not ganna tell the big surprise due to those who have not yet seen this film. Cuz personally, I want everyone to see this film. This is movie is amazing. The fight scene, acting, environment everything is super well done.:D I give Full Price!

Better than sex. There wasn't any scene in this movie that I was bored during. Every movie should be more like this movie because this movie doesn't have any females that get in the way of how the main character feels. Avatar had that problem and it almost ruined the movie if it weren't for the awesome action scenes. The gas mask guy is in 2 scenes in the entire movie and they're both in the begininning.

I know this might sound abit exaggurated but I'll give this a strong Full Price! The kickass action scenes, the tone, Denzel and Gary Oldman just made this totally awesome, my only problem is that it lacked a final climax and that it became kinda preachy at the very end, I'm an atheist but I still digged the idea and to you Brice Gilbert, I just wanna say that if the world would come to an end much like this, many would rape and kill just for desperation.

  • April 20, 2010 at 1:50 AM, Brice Gilbert said ...

Bleh. Interesting look film, and overall not horrible. A Rental probably. But I'm sorry, but the idea that without the bible people would go around raping and killing is both stupid and offensive to the human race as a whole. Actually read the bible if you think it's the best moral guide around. Oh and in response to Zachary D. Jones. I hate to do this, because it's really irrelevant to the topic of the Bible specifically, but name more people who have done harm IN THE NAME of atheism vs. people who have harm in the name of religion. Sorry, but just because someone happens to be an atheist, Christian, Buddhist or whatever doesn't mean they were motivated by it. Plus judging a film on a religious theme is part of criticism. It's perfect valid to do so. Especially since entertainment is so subjective anyways. If a film has great writing, fantastic acting, pretty visuals AND tells me that killing children is good/Einstein was a pedophile etc then I'm not going to enjoy the film. There is nothing wrong that opinion. Lets get over this idea of what you can and can't judge and actually discuss and argue over the content itself. NOT weather we should be able to hold such an opinion.

Full Price. I'm an Atheist, and you know what, I still love this movie. I would have paid full price but instead I saw it at a $2 matinee. There are a few religious themes in here, but one of them I really loved was when Gary Oldman was talking about how the book was used to control people, and could do so again. Then there's a quick little thing at the end of the movie where someone says that the town was afraid to say Gary Oldman's name. At first I was all like "Cool, this is Satan," and then I thought "OMG, it's Pat Robertson!" Mila Kunis was probably the worst thing about this movie, and she wasn't that bad most of the time. Gary Oldman was incredible and so was Danzel Washington. I didn't like The Road, and I think the main difference between this movie and The Road is that thing one has hope, and you expect the good guys to come out on top because they have God on their side. It's science Fiction people. Maybe one problem I did have with the movie was that I expected there to be a final climax, and it just didn't happen. There's a revelation in there and an ending that is reminiscent of Fahrenheit 451, and I think they're promising us a sequel, which I will pay full price to see.

Joseph, why are you so judgmentel of a movie just because it has a religious theme? It's ignorant to judge anything is such a way, judge movies on wether it's good or not, not if it has a religious theme. Their are atheist in history who have done things just as bad and proably worse than any religious group, at least in recorded history, and it's just vulgar to say you should make movies on only the dark and horrible parts of history. The movie in my opinion the movie is ..meh, not bad but not great.

Joseph, why would you give this a negative review because of the religious themes? Are you that stubburn of an atheist to avoid a film created for entertainment? That's pretty closed minded. It's not about religion, it's a damn movie. I still haven't seen the film in its entirety. The only real reason I want to watch it is because I'm a Washington fan, as well as an Oldman fan, but then again, who isn't?

they should have just called this fallout. IMO it could have totally worked, it also could have been used to introduce a new game title release to the franchise. particularly fallout in california would have been cool

Saw this last night. This is a hard movie to review or give an opinion on because it is the type of movie that you just have to see for yourself. All I can say is I hated it while I watched it but when it was over all I wanted to do was watch it all over again. I couldn't stop talking about it because I was in disbelief. It had some unique scenes. But a lot of it was familiar. I usually love movies with a lot of silence and scenes where there is a lot of communication even though there is not a lot of dialog. But you don;t get to really appreciate it until the movie is over. I highly recommend it.

I think you can say what you want to say here, just put ----------CONTAINS SPOILERS ---------- in your post (or something similar, that way people who haven't seen the movie, but will see it, can skip over your post if they want and read it after. Consequently, I just saw the movie last night, and man, it was great. I had the movie theater all to myself (me and my friend) and it was just a fantastic movie watching experience. The movie felt intimate. I could relate to Denzel's plight. There are many plot twists and turns along the way and ending was priceless. It would have been nice to be surprised by the ending a little more, but I was still surprised because the movie went in another direction at the end. For the Atheists reading my post, let me ask you a question. Could you watch movies like this, and believe what the character believes, for example, if they think that an Angel or some other spiritual power of good spoke to them and willed them to do something? Or do you see that and just say to yourself, "this has lost points already"? I think that in order to really feel something for the character, you have to, some extent, relate to the character. If the story has something in it that you may find silly or untrue, you lose your connection, or the connection is never formed, and the movie, for you, losing points or may be deemed "preachy". I don't know, just asking.

My bad. I didn't think my comment was too spoilery... the scene I was talking about had very very little to do with the plot. I just joined spill.... are there any forum set up where users can critique the movie without worrying about spoiling it for others? I would rather get a little deeper into my thoughts on the pros and cons of the movie without tiptoeing around the plot.

Enjoyed the video review. Read some comments afterwards. Please, if you are going put spoilers in your comments, let us know first, so we could skip your comment if we hadn't seen the movie yet (Markus Andreas).

The Hughes Brothers haven't directed a good movie in well over 10 years IMO. 'American Pimp' was the last one i enjoyed, and that's a documentary. shame, because they got off to such a great start.

---------CONTAINS SPOILERS--------- it started out looking like it was gonna be cool; good cinematography, decent if not "pretty cool" fight scenes, Denzel, Oldman and who doesn't like big fuckin machetes but halfway through they had a gunfight at that old house that was pretty cool but was exactly the same gunfight that Michael Bay did in Bad Boys 2 and after that the protagonist and the antagonist parted ways for the rest of the movie and it became so boring I could barely stay awake. After the halfway point the movie dragged like a retched corpse that somebody tied to my back. Half the people walked out of the theater. I was one of the only people who stayed, just out of respect for Denzel and the Hughes bros. then they pull that crap like the chick is the new Eli and she put's on the sunglasses like "theres something I gotta do". I totally respect the spill crew's opinion but I have to disagree on this one Sum Ol Bullshit to the max.
