  I don't know how you guys enjoyed this movie. I thought many characters and jokes were forced. Especially Jack Black. It felt like he was forced into being a dumbass dope head. There was a lot... (70%) of scenes that did not make sense with rest of the story. To sum it up, I still don't know what this movie is about. It's just random character dialogues. Bull Sh-t for me.

  Better Than Sex!!!!! Oh my god I love Robert Downey Jr. and he totally brought his A-Game. There were a few minor details that made me feel a little uncomforatble: the repeated use of the word retard and it's negative connotations, the use of the word n******. That's something I cannot stand. Other than those things I was totally blown away and I was laughing the entire time.

  Great review, guys! I have to disagree with you and say the film was "Matinee", though. You're right that Robert Downey, Jr. was the best actor in this film, but the rest of the gags were just okay to me. I didn't laugh out loud throughout the movie. I also thought Jack Black was a huge letdown in this film, and you didn't even mention him in your review.

  WHAT?? FULL PRICE! Are you kidding me? This movie sucked. I only laughed twice and it wasn't even a a big laugh. This movie had gratuidous language and stupid dialogue. The only reason I would even consider this piece of crap a rental is beacause of Downey Jr and the pretty good action scenes. Tom Cruise's charachter was pretty stupid(altough the part when he screams swear words on the phone was one of the 2 parts where I laughed, the other one beign Jack Black's dessprete pleed to get free from th tree). Ben Stiller sucked and the whole sub sub plot of the rapper being gay was COMPLETELY unecessary. You can't honestly come to me and tell me this is a comedy let alone the unniest comedy of the year (that honor obviously goes to Pineapple Exprees witch was so much more funny then this they can't even be compared).   Definetely one of the greatest comedies of the year, with out a doubt. Downey Jr steals it, with many superb cameos such as Tom Cruise and Mathew Maconahey The plot does wear paper thin during the middle sequences of the film and roles completely of target. But the A+ cast do help wheel it along with help by some fine directing. Tremendous dialouge and one ultimately oscar worthy performances, Tropic Thunder is a true hoot but doesn't have the real kick that it should have dilivered. so matinee
