Honestly, this movie is a low rental for me. Besides Xavier and Magneto and the first 10 minutes, nothing really worked for me. The story was boring to me, the "love triangle" was weak, the other mutants where a bore, and even Ema Frost was uninteresting. The weakest of the X-Men movies in my opinion. If it wasn't for the first few scenes that Magneto is a child and getting his revenge which are incredible, I would probably hate the movie a lot more.

Now that they are making a sequel, I hope they make make a movie instead of a boring, stretched out piece of filth from the bottom of the sewers.

BETTER THAN SEX! I loved this film so much! It's in no way the best film of 2011, but it might be my favourite! I saw it at the beginning of the summer, and i can't stop thinking about it. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are superb, and have this deep bromance going on, so by the end of the film, i got a lump in my throat when the inevitable happened.

I hope in the next instalment the story will explore more of Mystique's/Raven's story, dealing with the aftermath of the decision she made at the end of the film.

I have to admit, looking at it with a critical eye, it suffers from having too many small characters. We learn very little about the rest of the characters, but i'm sure that their stories will unravel and be revealed with time.

Can't wait until October 31st (DVD/Blu-ray release date) and i'm stupidly excited by the potential sequels of this prequel!!!

I enjoyed this movie very much. It was exciting to watch characters that I grew up on come to life. I would love to see other X-Men movies set in this time period.

The effects did suck at points, but the script never relied on them. Mathew Vaghne didn't need to spend half a billion to make blue look realistic. Great review.

    I liked it.

Some of the costumes were kinda off (Azazel looked like a poor man's version of Hellboy and Beast frankly reminded me of sesame street) but overall it was pretty cool. The two lead actors in particular did a great job, especially the magneto guy. However I think pretty much all of the teenage X-men were miscast and looked like beneton models. I didn't care much for any of them. the Angel character with her hissing and ridiculous firespit ability cracked me up every time.

Would have been more interesting if she was called firefly and shot fire out of her ass.

A very different style of Xmen that expresses more on emotion than action. B+

Well, I finally bucked up and went to go see this movie after all of the good reviews. After the last two I told myself I was completely through with X Men. Even during the previews I was telling myself: " Please don't suck, Please don't suck" But when the credits rolled I gave this five stars which translates to Better than sex! By far the best super hero movie so far this year. Now let's pray for Captain America. Also, I would say it is the second best movie of the year next to Limitless in my opinion. Has anyone seen that yet? I guess this film franchise can be saved. What I wanna see next is an X men set in the near future where they battle a bunch of sentinels, or better yet in the distant future where there's only Storm, Bishop and Wolverine left alive and they battle the super-sentinels. Marvel should really scrap that upcoming Wolverine movie I think it would mess things up.

ok, they must have changed the scene where Kevin Bacon says "be enslaved" and it pans over to the white kid, cuz when i saw it in the theaters it pans to the black guy when he says that and everyone in the audience busted out laughing when they caught the subliminal racism haha

I totally agree with Co-Host--this made me give a shit about X-men.  I've always been uninterested in the X-men movies / characters in general, but heard nothing but good things about this one so I went to check it out.  I really, really enjoyed it.  It was fresh, stylish and definitely character-driven.  James McAvoy and Fassbender had incredible chemistry, January Jones was equally brilliant, and Nic Hoult also stood out.  Definitely the best of the franchise.

I thought X-men Origins: Magneto was brilliant. My whole class went and we had a great time. The action, the character, the special effects. There were a few hiccups (Beast's make-up, the whole "gold being more powerful than diamond" thing) but I still had such a good time. Just as good as Iron Man and Spider Man 2.

This movie was decent. I have high standards. Why do I not say it was great? While I routinely accept the premises of movies (such as that these characters are mutants with super powers), I cannot understand nor do I forgive when an action movie lazily allows anything to happen on-screen. Even though it's commonplace for action movies to ignore probabilities, medical reality, and so on, I don't have to like it. And many times in this movie's action sequences unexplainable things go on (beyond what's explained by the mutant powers). Finally, outside of the action, some implausible or incongruent plot left me unhappy. I want my action movies air TIGHT.

I watched it last night and really liked it, but I didn't love it. It didn't quite have the oomph I was expecting. It was still an entertaining movie and I was surprised by how much was going on in it considering that it was an origin story. Also, I found the character moments more exciting than the action.

I would not be surprised if the old still standing and bald Professor X makes a Cameo in Wolverine 2 either still friends with Magneto or having just broken up the relationship

I think the story in First Class was very good but could have been so much better if they had written it to include a sequel

After all the best part of the movie was Charles and Eric
