Hmm... My opinion on this movie is a bit weird in that I understand where all the rest of the guys are coming from but for some reason I find myself siding more with Korey. I'd say the second half was definitely good (and I'm counting the scenes where they know where Osama is but are unsure what to do, I honestly liked those scenes). But the first half was only okay, just a little boring for my tastes but definitely not bad if that makes sense.

I guess I just have a soft spot for this movie for having a pretty good female heroine which is sadly kind of rare and this movie really made me a fan of Jessica Chastain (hope to see more from her in the future) and I just think it's so cool to see how the military took down Osama. So while I get Leon, Cyrus, CoHost's argument I liked this movie quite a bit and I would give it a low Full Price.

Btw. Am I the only one who thought Gandolfini should've gotten a bigger role? Like maybe in the meeting scene where he shouted at them for failing? Wouldn't that've been cool? I'm not even really a Sopranos fan (more of a The Wire and Breaking Bad guy) but I think he's a good actor and should be used well.

I'm an intel analyst and there was not a whole lot I liked about this film. There wasn't much analyzing or intelligence. This film basically portrayed Maya as someone playing a hunch and working only one lead when we know (or hope) that's not true. You are constantly working several angles and multiple leads simultaneously. If she had been only working the Abu Mahamed angle then she got luck. Not cold, hard, solid intel. This is the same problem I had with The Hurt Locker and the main character being a wild card, cowboy that has a complete disregard for protocol, procedure and the safety of his men. I want to see professionals doing their job well and the payoff of those results. Zero Dark Thirty fails to nail those moments of breaking intel. We already know the ending to this story so the journey has to be that much better. This did not seem real or intriguing on any level. In all honesty, it felt sloppy. It's an embarassment to intel analysts worldwide.

Korey is dead on. This movie isn't about characterization so if you're wanting that...don't watch this movie. I found it incredibly entertaining and informative and the realism gave it more intensity than most action movies.

Direct quote from Davril Chorster: "I watched the film a week ago and can attest to the fact that Leon is an idiot."

So, what're you referring to when you later say: "I'm not saying that Leon is an idiot (and if I did, I take it back)." ?

The animation on this video is top notch.

I miss the 10 second review buzzer gags though, you should do one or two like that in the future.

....I think Korey's version of Osama's death was what happened lol

I'm really digging the new direction of the Animated reviews.  I wish the team could do more of them, but I prefer the quality to quantity.

@Leon... Did I hear that Coleman guy call you Stepin Fetchit? And you didn't back hand slap him...

Im srry but what wrong with a matinee? it below full price with some of the comments you think that said it was some old bulls&^t. They dont mock other critics, just disagree with them. I do feel that the trailer for this movie is a bit misleading but thats just me

@The Devil That Never Cries, Leon isn't an idiot because he disagrees with me.  We never spoke to one another so we had'nt made any kind of agreement.  Also, I said that he's being idiotic this time because he didn't like the film because it had things that can not exist in a film like this.  It's like complaining that Black Hawk Down doesn't develop its characters nor does it have a story arc.  Well, it's not supposed to so don't expect it to.

Zero Dark Thirty is about the manhunt for Osama Bin Laden.  That's it.  They look for hi for over 8 years and at the end they find him.  Why the fuck would anyone dramatize the happenings just so the audience would have relatable characters that are fully developed?  Character has nothing with their job.  The Spill crew had already said it right: this film is a procedural, not an actioner or a character driven drama.

Lately, Leon's been complaining about not liking certain films because they ended up not being the films that he wanted them to be.  I'm not joking.  He can honestly be quoted (towards Lincoln) as having said, "I don't like this film because it's to the film that I wanted to see".  He wanted to watch a film about President Abe Lincoln and the battles that he was behind, during the American Civil War, and he ended up watching a film that's about Lincoln abolishing slavery.  That pissed him off and he doesn't like the film for it.

Now, that's what I call idiotic.  I'm not saying that Leon is an idiot (and if I did, I take it back).  I'm saying that he's been idiotic lately and it's fucking annoying.

Yeah DarkSyndicate, Spill is just picking fights with anyone and anywho they consider lesser humans. That's what defines spill.com and not in any way the silly humour they once in a while provide, obviously just as a collateral to their sharp journalism. Also their job is quite easy because they know everyone is a paranoiac beneath whatever skin they wear, so they don't have to push that far for anyone to rise up their voice with a stick up their ass.

And yes I realize I'm picking a fight with you, I get very stressed when drinking caffeinated stuff.

For those who did not understood the Pony joke, I will explain

Korey and the Spill crew love 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' as much -perhaps slightly more than- religion, and if you didn't get that, then you are likely new to the site and are up for a shocker.

First of all, you have to know what was the reality for Osama Bin Laden. While he was hiding, all he did was eat, drink, done a lot of marijuana, watched a lot of television and a lot of porn; too much time on his hands and was like a couch potato, loser. The joke was that MLP is just a very blatant and generic show about colorful ponies with bad writing, dialog and just a bunch of fumbling nonsense. The fact that this was who Osama was at the time, despite 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic' being so gratuitously abysmal, he was just so messed up in the head that, well... It is self explanatory, really.

When you think about it, Osama Bin Laden was the perfect candidate to be a 'brony'.

If anything, it is an insult to both Osama Bin Laden and 'My Little pony: Friendship is Magic'.

Also, it is really not hard to mimic the animation and art-style of 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic', considering that (1) it looks as if it was made with a cheap computer, animation software and (2) the ponies in general look very generic to each other.

Just saw the film and....Korey is still right! Heck, I might have liked it more than him. I LOOOVED this movie. Tightly crafted, exquisitely written, subtly acted, terrifically edited and all sort of praise. Heck, it deserves Oscars just for how good the sound was all throughout. And where you guys say there was no characterization or structure, I say that it had more than most movies I saw this year. There was a distinct three act structure based on the key events that were presented, first with the initial interrogations, then to the hunt for Abu Akbar and then finding the compound. And the characterization was subtle, not absent. It's how the characters reacted through what was not said and how they responded to events. Sometimes acting cold to something is in fact characterization. Really though, it's just how tense and well paced it was for having almost no actual action. It is about mounting stakes and building up everything to a directed point. We know the outcome but we are personally compelled to want to know how it gets there by seeing it in action. There was almost no point I wasn't hooked onto the screen. Hate me if you want and call me pretentious, but I give it BETTER THAN SEX! Next to Life of Pi, I can't think of a movie I enjoyed from beginning to end more than this. I would watch this over The Dark Knight Rises any day of the week! I just had a great time in that theater as a person who looks for top notch filmmaking. As for historical accuracy, who cares? I can argue it in certain cases for many films, but it ultimately ends up to the question of if the movie was a good movie. Amadeus is full of historical inaccuracies and it is one of my absolute favorite movies ever.

I have not seen this movie but I can attest that

Billy Magada is right. All my friends that have served were laughing at this movie. It is not realistic. Its slow, it tries to convince you that its based on fact. In reality this is Hollywood’s attempt at a gritty realistic thriller. To the people that love this movie (Kory) that is great but this is not the tour de force that some people think it is. When this comes out for Blu Ray nobody will even be talking about it.  No way I will pay to see this in theatres.

I watched the film a week ago and can attest to the fact that Leon is an idiot. You can't have a film that doesn't have a 3-act story structure and that is not driven by its characters and claim that it doesn't develop its characters.  It's a procedural film that showcases a manhunt, so the main point of focus is the actual job and not the characters and their private lives. That being said, this is a very, very good film. However, I'd give it a matinee rating because you don't have to see it in the theaters. It's a full price film that would be better watched at home
