You realize Hot Topic sells stuff mostly for good movies right? I saw more stuff for Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and the Avengers at Hot Topic all year. No Twilight though.

Thank you, gentlemen. This podcast saved my life. I had a razor poised over my wrist, ready to slice open my veins, when I logged onto Spill. There it was, like a heavenly beam of warm radiance: Spill's Worst of 2011. Sometimes, hope is paid off. Tomorrow is another day.

@Fatality  Thanks a lot dude. I appreciate the support. But, believe it or not, I don't hate HermanHe just does not get my point. For some reason a lot of people on this site don't get me. However, some people do. Perhaps if I just sat down with him and talked to him instead of us just typing back and forth he might get my point. However, sometimes some people just don't get me and that's alright.

@Toe Knee Bee Ears I'll jump to your defense. You do make sense and Herman is a tool.

@Herman  lol Either I'm so advanced that no one can understand me, I'm so terrible at trying to communicate my points, or I'm insane. lol You chose.

I'll try to explain my point again. It's fine for someone to say that something might be offensive to a race, religious group or gender. However, ultimately it's up to that race, religious group, or gender to decide if it is offensive to them or not.

My worst of list for 2011. 10) Paul.  9) 30 Minutes or Less.  8) Just Go With it.  7) Zookeeper.  6) The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.  5) Beastly.  4) The Roommate. 3) Judy Moody and the not Bummer Summer. 2) Bucky Larson: Born to be a Star. and the worst movie for me for 2011 was a tie. Jack and Jill and Bad Teacher. I think Cars 2, Sucker Punch and Transformers 3 were something I really enjoyed as a guilty pleasure, but I can see why you guys don't like those movies and I'm not gonna get upset about it. Although you guys need to give Co-host a tune up or something because I really can't see why he thinks Adam Sandler was funny in those movies.

@Toe Knee Bee Ears-Fungsmonkey is a saint for trying to communicate with a person like you. I don't know how he does it.

@Herman  Yes I think you should have to. If you're going to criticize my logic you should have a reason why. Just saying "it's ridiculous" is not enough. Imagine if the Spill crew did a movie review and just said "it's ridiculous" Would you like their reviews if they were all like that? Maybe you would be satisfied with a two word review but, I would want to know why the movie was ridiculous.

I think you completely misunderstood me. I did not say that just because someone not part of a specific gender, ethnicity or culture is incapable of recognizing things that are offensive to other groups. My first comment was a question, not a statement. I said "Can a male critic really say if a movie is empowering for women or not?” "Can non-Jewish critics truly say that the movie is offensive to Jewish people?"  I was posing a question.

You can’t truly know what it’s like to be someone else until you walked a mile in their shoes.

Yes, one may assume that something might offend someone else but, that person cannot know for certain that it will because they are not that person.

@TreeTheOak and Herman Regarding Sucker Punch, I have not seen it so I can’t say if I like it or not.  I’m not defending or condemning it. I just believe that women should be the ones to decide if it’s empowering to them or not. Men should not be the ones to decide.

I feel the same about all groups and media. For example, many people find Speedy Gonzales racially offensive to Mexicans. I have a Mexican friend who loves Speedy Gonzales. He thinks Speedy Gonzales is hilarious.  Who am I as a white man to say that he should be offended?  It’s not my place to say that. I have no right to tell him what he should be offended at. That’s up to him to decide not me.

I quite enjoyed Sucker Punch. You all are way too hard on that movie semingly because you had some preconceived notions on what it was supposed to be and you contrast that to what it actually was. I saw it just for what it was not what it supposedly sought out to be. What it was was a fun, stylized, well choreographed action pic featuring hot women in anime caliber fights. Certainly the rest of the goings on were a bit lame but the meat of the movie was quite fun. I've seen it several times and still can't get enough of the fight scene in the train, or the samurai battle. Oh yeah, one last thing: I was amused and satisfied by the twist at the end. Overall good stuff. Not the best of the year but certainly not the worst.

Really? Mars Needs Moms? I actually thought it was a great movie. I was never bored and actually came close to crying multiple times.

    @Toe Knee Bee Ears

in terms of being able to judge something as offensive, ask yourself this "does this serve Any purpose?" are Jews, blacks, Mexican being stereotyped for satirical reasons? Are the characters that are acting in a racial manner being used for any point? (such as uncle Ruckus from the Boondocks being used as an extreme example of the self hating black man) or are they simply cast or portrayed that way for nothing more but comic effect or exploitation? (such as the women in Sucker Punch or All of Soul Plane)

you don't need to be PC to answer that question and yes you can still have a guilty pleasure by enjoying these movies despite this.  However you should acknowledge that yes this is offensive but i can still chuckle.

hmm that made me sound kinda racist, but i guess my point is you can enjoy sucker punch but you cant defend the idea that its somehow empowers women.

@Toe Knee Bee Ears-I shouldn't have to. Just because I'm not part of a specific gender, ethnicity or culture does not mean I'm incapable of recognizing things that are offensive to other groups. Are you so objective that someone has to explain in detail why stereotypes and sexism in films might be offensive? That's sad.

@Ensanne Williams I completely agree with you. Those people who complain about the visuals in Transformers are either blind or closing their eyes while watching the movie. If a red and blue robot is fighting a grey robot with sharp parts, u really cant tell the difference ?

It's sad that the guy who directed Kinsey and Gods and Monsters is the one who made the worst Twilight film out of the four.

I Know thats its 2012 release-but Lars Von Trier"s: "Melancholia" is one of the best films of all time! Compare to Bergmans' "The  Seventh Seal"-this film ranks equally to the reality of death.

    Dear lord...

I remember being with a group of guys when I saw Sucker Punch, and I was baffled how anyone could have enjoyed it. I was even more confused by the idea that the film was meant to be somehow empowering. I remember even thinking some of the font used in the end credits was bad.

The movie just confused me so much, and it's the only one I've actually seen from this list. XD
