I had to check out that Mr. Turtle clip that Korey was talking about. And even though you told me exactly what would happen I still could not believe that the shit was real.

If I had two million dollars, I'd build a kick ass sake den/sushi bar, like the one in Kill Bill. No fancy car or house in Jamaica. Just a sushi restaurant with elaborate decorations.

I've been coming to Spill all these years and never once heard dating advice from Ol' Uncle Korey! Bahahaha it was exactly what I would expect from him :D Trust me Korey, I'm taking notes...

I love that Korey and Leon do the bit where they discuss what they're going to do for ACOCO as if they've never heard of it before. lol.

    First of all...what is meta???!!!

@Fungusmonkey @Davril. I guess it caters to a VERY specific audience because I feel very differently about the film (About the same as the Spill Crew in their review). If you're with it then you'll enjoy it and if you're not then you won't as much. It's one of those movies where I can totally understand if you didn't enjoy it on that level.

@G-man 15 - No, I expected it to be what it was. However, what I didn't expect was a film that could have been an intelligent and humorous look at the tired tropes of the horror genre (much like the superior 'Tucker & Dale vs Evil' did), but ended up actually falling prey to it's own tropes and becoming tired itself. Other than a few great phrases and one or two geniunely funny scenes, the whole rest of the film was hackey plotting. I genuinely love Joss Whedon, but you can tell which parts of the script were his and where the rest went painfully wrong.

It ended up being a predictable, cliche-ridden, too-meta look at horror movies. If you're not a fan of horror, then you simply don't care about the constant references the film tries to cram into it's running time. If you're a big fan of horror, then the only real appeal is "ooh look, it's [insert film here]" every ten seconds. However, all that pales in comparison to the lazy screenwriting. It is LITERALLY just one giant Deus Ex Machina. Every problem is solved with the push of a button and some completely improbable solution magically presents itself.

I haven't had a chance to listen to that LEOG yet, so this was the first I heard about Randy. I am genuinely very sorry and hope he beats this thing. I am not religious type, so I'll just say my faith in Science is with you. My mum was very recently diagnosed with cancer and in all honesty things aren't looking good for her, so this is a subject quite close to my heart right now.

    I'm 100% with Fungusmonkey; it's a high rental.

And G-man15, I heard form the Spill crew that it's a meta-centric deconstructionist horror/comedy and went to see with high hopes, only to be disappointed by the revealing opening credits and that all of the scenes that take place in  and surrounding the cabin are boring.  I understand why the college students, who are all good students, turn into 80 slasher film cliches but they not only become cliches in a cliched "horror film", they repeat the cliches and that's boring.  All of the scenes with the scientists are good and so are the last 20 minutes.

Cabin in the Woods: High Rental.

@Fungusmonkey It sounds like you were expecting it to be a straight up horror film.  It's really a horror comedy and a deconstruction of horror movies and the horror genre in general.

I absolutely loved "The Cabin in the Woods" but I don't fault anyone for not being crazy about it.  I wasn't that much of a fan of Scott Pilgrim so I know the feeling.

Hilarious.  I jumped on youtube to check out that Turtle clip and found more than a handful Spillios commenting.  I can just imagine someone else stumbling across the clip and wondering what ACOCO is and who the heck is this Korey guy is.  That clip was pathetic.  I can't imagine having to watch the entire movie.

I know what it's like to lose someone from cancer, but I also know 2 survivors! Keep your head up Spill Crew & friends!

Randy's going to be the next Walter White...  but of comic books :)
