Left you cold? Well I guess the movie did what it was suppose to do. Seems like it just didn't carry over for you. Which is strange because it was such a powerful film, and I think you have to care about the character he doesn't like who he is. He wants to just hide, and his sister is the opposite.

Eh I guess it reminded me for Requiem for a Dream but put the spotlight on a much different addiction

And if you listened to what I said, you'd get that I understand the type of film it is, and that I disagree that it didn't need a story because for a character based piece like this to be interesting, you have to care what happens to the character in question, and I most certainly did not care. Perhaps it depends on the audience being able to project emotions from having known someone else with addiction problems. I don't know. But it left me cold and it had nothing to do with me not understanding what it was trying to do.

Also by the end of the film the reason it was so powerful because he was finally starting to care for someone. Which was his sister. I think the sister relationship in the film was the story you were looking for. Maybe it needed to be more out there for you but it was there. Very subtle, because the people in the film aren't over the top they are quiet, real, and a little messed up

Yeah I went at you the wrong way. I am sorry for that Cyrus, but I do still think you missed the whole point. You wanted a story when really there isn't a story. It's the guys life, and how he deals with his addiction. I know that might not be enough for you, but you are pointing out things that the film didn't need to have. It's like me hating on a movie for not having enough of something that really isn't needed. That's why I said you "missed the whole point" Shame really reminds me of a film that a lot of people missed out on because they simply weren't yet ready for that kind of a film. You also ignore the amazing acting, score, and directing this film has. Also all those intro shots with the guys dick didn't feel out of place. It was more of setting the mood for the film. Shame didn't try to sugar coat anything. It was pure filmmaking.

The entire masthead spill crew didn't really dig on Shame, for the record. And it's just not accurate to say, "I guess he just doesn't understand the whole point" when criticizing someone else for liking something you didn't. That's a sizable assumption to make. Alternately and more accurately, I got the point, and still didn't find it to be worthwhile. At least not to my tastes. Way the world works.

Man Cyrus missed the whole point of Shame lol. Well I guess he just doesn't understand the whole point. I guess he needs things blowing up to like lol. Our a billion lame jokes. Shame was my favorite film last year

@Luke Mullen thanks for apologizing. I probably took it more personally then I should of. You are a good guy in my book.

RE: The religious thing, Brian's right, we're not going to have a full on religious debate in the comments section, but I do want to apologize to anyone that was offended by what I said. I grew up a pastor's kid, my parents are Christians and I love and respect them more than anyone on planet earth. What I was trying to point out was that there is plenty of stuff in the Bible for atheists and others to make fun of and attack and it rubs ME the wrong way when movies or entertainment go out of their way to make stuff up to make Christians sound dumb. Obviously I didn't word things very well but that was my point. I meant no disrespect to anyone. To avoid a huge debate, I'd appreciate it if we could all move on.

Did I not explain myself well enough about Shame? I liked it a lot! Or are you all just disappointed that Cyrus didn't care for it as much?

@OdO is there something about Blu Tuesday you feel like we could incorporate or do you just miss the guys that did that one?

@ilmena.2 dude it certainly wasn't meant to be a dig, I was just saying that the vast majority of younger folks most likely haven't had sufficient life or sex experience for it hit home for them. Certainly didn't mean they couldn't enjoy the film, or that there wouldn't be outliers. Wasn't a dig at all

Thanks for the shout-out to Amicus and their well-done series of anthology horror movies. I'm a sucker for anything starring Peter Cushing! Also, Cyrus has voiced an opinion I've had for a few years now. When Universal released their Legacy Collection boxed sets featuring their famous monster movies (which were a great series of DVD releases) there should have been an Abbot and Costello Meet the Monsters boxed set as well. I'm suprised Universal hasn't released this yet, because I'd buy it immediately.

It's true about Bob's burgers. I hated it at first but since it's between the Simpsons and Family guy and American dad sometimes i would end up watching and it really grew on me. Now i really love that show.

Iron Man. Dio. Nobody had a Black Sabbath joke to throw into the pot? (I admit at this point that I broke into strains of Holy Diver the minute I heard the name Dio mentioned here, seconds before Cyrus did!)

I agree with Cyrus about the love triangle in the Arthurian Legend. It does not need to be the main focus. My favorite adaptation of the Arthurian Legend has to be Excalibur (1978?) because the love triangle is just a small arc of a grand story.
