Well that wouldn't be that surprising at all since Up and Toy Story 3 were able to get nominations when it expanded. If Brave is up there with same quality. Winning is highly doubtful considering there's still some stigma of giving animated movies Best Picture unless everything else is just absolute dogshit.

I've been saying this for months now: Looking at the current line-up of movies coming out for the rest of the year, I think Brave has a very good chance of not only being nominated for Best Picture, but possibly even winning.

Gotta say what you guys said about Prometheus is driving me nuts. I went in exactly the same as you, avoiding teasers and such. (But trailers were impossible to avoid when it was in the previews for pretty much every movie)

I haven't watched through the Aliens movies, so it's impossible for me to hold comparison I did have one expectation though; be an awesome sci-fi movie. I was bored during the movie which was horrifying; and when it was over I keep telling myself I liked it..

So don't try to make it out like it's our fault for not enjoying this. I've been looking forward to this movie for months and am by no means any type of fanboy. Still left me disappointed. I've haven't ranted about til now because I'm sick of this notion "everyone who didn't like it are fanboys and wanted it to be something else."

Hey, I am excited for spill dot con. To be honest, I can get a lot of what's in Austin in NYC but...life does not always give you second chances to meet people who share your interests. I don't know what next year brings. I relate VERY much to people who can't come to spill dot con. Work, raising your family, sick loved one, not enough money...to quote Harvey Pekar, "Ordinary Life is complicated stuff..."
