I finally got around to seeing this movie, and it's odd in that it's one of those films where when it ended, I didn't know how I felt about it, but the more I reflect upon it, the more favourably I remember it. I feel all of the points you guys brought up were spot on. The only criticism I would have of this movie was the score. I felt really, physically agitated at the cutesy music that seemed to be used in EVERY. SCENE. Given the quality of the acting and the writing, I really felt like the same mood and atmosphere could have been established a lot of the time without the little bells, chimes, and acoustic guitar that seemed to be... wait for it... UBIQUITOUS in this film. I could definitely see those who go into this already jaded towards indie films being turned off by it, which is unfortunate, because I agree with you guys that this is one of the few films of that sub-genre that has a lot of substance to it.

This movie is between a Full Price and Better Than Sex. It's one of the best independent films of the year,

You guys nailed it with this review. This film delivered everything one would expect in a quirky indie rom-com. This is the first time I've seen Aubrey Plaza in action, but she is great. I want to check out Parks and Recreation now. Everyone else was awesome. Genuinely a great little film!

I finally saw this and loved it, took 20-30 minutes to get really into it but after that it flew by quickly. Best movie I saw in a long time.

Safety Not Guaranteed was what a good independent film should be. The characters were quirky, but not so much to where they were unbelievable. These are characters that occupy a very real universe, and are likable enough that you would want to get to know them. The plot moved at a surprisingly brisk pace, even with the interesting tangents. It kept you guessing until the very end as to whether one of the central characters was insane or genuinely discovered how to travel through time. I definitely give this movie a high matinee or low full price. If you have to travel a few miles to see an independent film, and you have a choice between Safety Not Guaranteed or Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, the choice should be Safety Not Guaranteed. It was vastly superior to Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom, which, in my opinion, was one big overrated cinematic catastrophe.

I'm thrilled that y'all liked this. I ran into a trailer for this movie by accident on youtube a couple days ago and I could just tell I was going to love it. I just wish that it was going to be airing around here. Unless they have a digital release coming out soon it might be a while...
