With Cyrus on the other side of the country, the League is in a state of chaos when the red warning klaxon goes on. The Spillios are in need of entertainment, stat. Only one group has the power to make it come together...but who will lead them in this time of uncertainty? Even Cyrus doesn't know (and is a little frightened, since they recorded a lot of this at Rubio's house). But fear not, before he left, Cyrus recorded something special and put it in his R2 unit in case of an emergency like thi

I'm listening to the episode and I'm loving it so far. I would like to talk about The Expendables, if I may:

Leon says he just doesn't get it, he doesn't get the appeal. There's nothing wrong with that. Not everything is for everyone. I did take a little exception with the implication that people would be seeing this movie and enjoying it the way a cat would enjoy a shiny thing or we go to see the movie just because of the explosions.

I was excited to see the first one because I found the idea interesting. All of these action heroes I enjoyed as a kid in the same movie? And a chance to see some action heroes I'm not normally exposed to? Okay, I'll give it a shot. On that level the nostalgia is what brought me in. I was lucky enough to grow up at a time when these type of movies were THE thing. And I was also lucky enough to have family who enjoyed watching them by either having cable or going to another relatives house who had them on VHS. To me action movies are fun as hell, but they remind me of a time in my life where I got to spend time with friends and family to sit down and enjoy something that was either really fun to watch or so ridiculous you got a chuckle out of it.

When I saw the movie, I enjoyed it. Yes it had it's problems with the CG-blood and the limited cameos from Willis and Schwarzenegger, but overall it was a fun action movie. Yes, half the fun was seeing these actors who I loved as a kid going for one more run, but the story wasn't terrible, either. It's not supposed to have this deep message, but it did show what leading a life like that can do to you (I.E. On relationships like on Jason Statham's character...even though he solved that with violence, on what it does to a person I.E. Mickey Rourke's monologue and so on) It's not meant to be a totally deep movie, it was fun. It also exposed me to Jason Statham and Terry Crews, who I knew of at the time, but watching The Expendables made me want to actively seek out their other work. Statham is great in the crank movies and Terry Crews is actually a funny guy...I also forgot he was in Battle Dome.

What I did take exception to was when the movie came out, there was this hatred for it because it came out the same day as Scott Pilgrim vs the World and the thought of "How DARE this pointless stupid action movie take away from the genius of Scott Pilgrim?!" Look, people. I saw both movies and I enjoyed the hell out of both of them. While I'm not a fan of Michael Cera, this was the first movie I really loved him in and it was fun. If anything, Scott Pilgrim may not have been the number one box office draw of that week...but who cares?! Plenty of good movies that people love weren't top draws in their day...look at It's a Wonderful Life for example. When it first came out...not a lot of people say it, but to this day it's a classic. Am I saying Scott Pilgrim vs the World will be a classic? Not my call, time's gonna tell on that one. But this stigma about Expendables being hated because it took money away from Scott Pilgrim gets to me...they're movies, people! There's room to enjoy both! I did.

I'm aware The Expendables is what it is, it's a fun action movie. It goes back to something that was said in the episode, albeit on a different segment, but the idea that if you genuinely love something, who cares what someone else thinks? You enjoy it, it's special to you and has meaning. I realize that's a bit of a contradiction as I'm writing this out trying to defend it, but the guys made a point.

The Expendables isn't for everyone. That's okay. Personally, I'm glad the first one made enough money that we're getting a sequel. It means this weekend I'm taking my group of friends that I saw the first one to see the new one and hopefully the movie is good or fun enough that we'll enjoy it as much as we did the first one. Again, I can't make that call cause I haven't seen it yet. But it should also be said that deriding the people who do like it and dismissing them as simpletons who are only going to see it because of tropes and big explosions...eh...THAT I don't get.

Thank you all for letting me explain/rant :)

The fake geek girl thing is just stupid. Who cares if these girls aren't real geeks? If they were beating up real geeks and taking their lunch money or something like that, maybe I'd hate them too. Seeing as that's not the case, who cares?

Oh, come on, Captain Planet was sort of okay....no, no, it was a bad show. But it was a little fun for a child, such as myself, to watch when they are just first learning about the enviroment. And there's one thing that Captain Planet did give us all:

Can someone reply to this message and give me a summary of what the LEOG crew thought of the my little pony show? I'm curious if they were just "meh" or "fuck this show, I hate it".

Cyrus, you need dreams. I think its nice to dream about a world where sex doesn't sell everything.

Man its so weird to hear u talk about the Alamo Draft in Austin, ive been to the one in Virigina and it is amazing. Super clean, food is great, beer is cheap, there is 10 screens and they will cancel showings to some movies if they need to fill out for bigger ones (they did for Harry Potter). Not shabby at all

I know that it was a passing discussion, but in regard to Gotham City, when Bruce Wayne and Lucius Fox are having a conversation about the use of the prototype tracking device, Lucius says "Spying on 30 million people isn't part of my job description." Which obviously implies that there are thirty million people in Gotham City, whether it be in the Metropolis area or in the Greater Gotham Area is unknown.

Now, i'm thinking that Gotham would also have municipalities similar to Tokyo. So, with that said, if Ra's al Ghul had successfully sent Gotham into anarchy in the first film or hell, if Bane/Talia had detonated the nuclear device instead of Batman 'Iron Giant'ing the bomb out of the way, then, well, America would be shafted.

Hell, destroying Gotham would have a similar effect as nuking Tokyo or New York, it would alter the balance of power.

I enjoyed the geek girl conversation. As with most things, I pretty much agreed with Leon the majority of the time, but it gave me a little bit of validation. Sometimes I feel like I'm not geeky enough because I'm not familiar with everything that falls under the heading of geek culture.

Well, it took 16 minutes to bash religion.  I don't know if it's the LEOG's personal best, but damn close.
