    Having seen how much fun u guys had with this game in the Happy Hour, and having been completely hooked on it myself since I got it last weekend, I'm pretty surprised just how critical u guys (especially Jeff) are here. My only complaint about the gunplay is that there's not enough of it - u can certainly get into cover no problem if u know what ur doin, u can slide into cover from a distance for gods sake - but I think it's a ballsy move by the developers to make an open world sandbox game that relies almost entirely on hand to hand combat. Imagine how much of a GTA clone u'd accuse it of being if, like every other sandbox game all u did was shoot the whole time?

    And the gta clone thing is reeeally gettin old now. Sandbox is a genre all of it's own now, simple. Is every platformer from the last 20 years a Mario Bros clone? No, so this tired excuse to run down perfectly decent games is just lazy, plus this game, whilst obviously falling short of the megabucks Rockstar franchises in certain regards,brings a lot of stuff to the table that Niko Bellick and co coud never do. Sandbox is about freedom, variety, and violence, and this game has it all in spades. It might not be as 'classy' as GTA4, but to be honest I'm having more fun playing it and I'm more involved in the story and characters, which, yes, are ripped from countless genre movies, just like Rockstar's been making their bread and butter for almost a decade now whilst abandoning the fun aspect from their games as soon as Niko Bellick started prattling on about mass graves of headless babies or whatever the fuck it was.

    @Crytex

    I played the game on extreme + High Res texture pack and I second your opinion. The game was fucking beautiful and ran at a solid 60fps.

    I enjoyed using the cover system when every I would die and appear in the hospital/clinic. I hid behind the counter and unloaded on HKPD... Cover system works great!

    @Frank

    I barely killed any civilians when driving around. I wonder if it has to do with your guys being American since the roads in China are half the size of American roads

    @Chad, yes they did.  They said, "at least the cover mechanic in this game, which is shit, isn't nearly as bad as the one in GTA IV.  And they hadn't mentioned RDR because it's cover mechanic is excellent.  You hold the run button and John automatically hides behind cover when he's near it.  It has an excellent cover system.

    It's funny to hear these guys complain about the cover system in this game and not the cover systems in GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption.

    I actually failed the fast talking thing once when I wasn't paying attention, A nurse didn't believe that I was a doctor and ratted me out.

    The story kept me going and had me hooked to be honest, if affected me way more so than GTAIV. It was on par with San Andreas for me.

    My main problem with this was the density of traffic/civilians which was better than Just cause 2 (square enix, same company) but it still felt fairly empty especially for a place like Hong Kong. as for the graphics, whilst they could be better, I enjoyed the environment aesthetically and it looked quite nice in the the rain.

    I didn't have any trouble with the cover mechanic, although I was playing the for the PC so that could be it... or you guys are just bad at the game.

    Eh, I have to respectfully disagree with a lot of points in this review. After the disappointment that was Mass Effect 3 and Diablo 3, this was probably the most fun I've had with a game this year. Maybe that's just the Hong Kong action fan in me talking though.

    Didn't have any problems with the cover so I don't know what you guys are talking about - I spent most of my time leaping out of cover though. The graphics/framerate are excellent on PC with the day one HD pack. Those GTA V screenshots are probably from the PC version so I wouldn't get my hopes up for your console box versions to look that good anyway.

    I had some minor issues in that it is way harder to level up Triad EXP compared to the others and the camera that automatically flips around when reversing. Other than that I loved the focus on melee combat over gunplay (even though there are still some John Woo style shootouts towards the end), I loved the setting and I enjoyed the story much more than you guys seemed to. Actual effort went into the PC version (which is a lot more than what I can say for Darksiders 2) The driving is way better than a lot of sandbox games - I don't know, this game just hit way more than it missed for me.

    The graphics look a lot better on PC with the enhanced textures,but yah GTA Vs will be much better. I just hope to god its well ported to pc unlike gta IV.

    The gunplay is generic and the fighting isn't all that addictive or fun. A block function in addition to the counter system would've been nice. Overall, I'm very disappointed by this game...

    Thank you for mentioning it ,I thought all the silly nicknames were super distracting.

    I enjoyed the game I liked how Wei moved around in the game world with his Jackie Chan free running. But the poorly paced story and bad mission design kept me from highly recommending  it. Also twice in the games main story you are forced to sign karaoke to continue what the hell? Even Yakuza never made you do that.

    I cannot believe Jason didn't upgrade any thing in the game in the demo of the game that I played one of the early upgrades in the cop tree was to  have access to opening car doors without alarms going of.(I suppose as the demo was a level and not opened worlds guessing from experience with GTA and upgrade tree here in SD)

    My dick hurts and thank you for the review. Despite all of the criticisms, I fucking love open world games so I suppose I will still buy it.
