When it comes to live action video game based movies, the film adaptation of the Yakuza (translation of actual name: Like a Dragon) directed by Takashi Miike is supposed to be at least decent. Then again (with exception of the non-canon Zombie shooter spinoff), the Yakuza games have simple storylines when compared to something like Resident Evil.

its Ganesha not Ganesh and he's not a she. and i don't think anyone made a big fuss about it because one i doubt many have seen it (i only know of the picture because you guys) and 2. one of precepts is what is is. most likely any hindu who saw it thought what i did, "disgusting americans" and went on about their life. if you talk about it more and start spreading the existence of the picture you doing exactly what the artist wanted which is making him/her famous and keeping something so vile in circulation, its best to ignore it and it will disappear in time but that doesn't mean doesnt offend anyone

Leon I agree with you, i got your back(sort of).Yeah I'm a gamer, born in 1987 lived through NES, SNES, PSX, N64, NGC, Wii, 360, PS3 and most handhelds....Video Games are not art, nowhere near it. They're Design. The reason why is they're still games, there has been no moment of transcendence. They have not become more than what they are in the years they been around as opposed all other art forms. Film was initially was a cheaper way to show plays and other live performances, it became film as we know it when film makers experimented with early forms of editing thus becoming the modern language of film making began, as its own art form.

I gotta say, Lee was great on the mic. Much like Mr. Pretty Tony (who has been great in the past as well), he knew when to chime in and when to stay silent. When he did contribute it ended up really adding to the discussion and/or making me laugh. Great job dude.
The only problem I had with Lee is everytime Korey says his name I keep expecting it to be followed with "on". So I propose that if and when you have Lee back on, we have to give him an alias...............jsut kidding.

That Lee guy is so much like Co-Host 3000. Close in voice but even closer in personality. Did you buy him from the same manufacturer?

Hi guys, love the podcast and all of the shows on the site. A real amazing work.
This is the first time I've commented on the site cause I never saw a reason why I should talk about something that's already been discussed at length. But, I just couldn't stop thinking of the subject matter that was talked about during this podcast in regards to the recent riots in the Middle East and just wanted to get this out of my mind. So, here's my input on the matter.
First of, a disclaimer. I am a Muslim. (don't worry!! Im not gonna harm anyone, I'm not gonna blowup the site or take hostages!!!.... Yet?! :p). I'm also from the middle east so double the fun! lol (bad jokes I know) Also, this comment is not just directed at you guys, it's for everyone on the site to read and get it from the middle eastern boy who lives in the desert with in a tent and gets good internet resorption :p.
But all jokes aside and lets get to the cream and butter. I'm so happy that you guys are openminded and on middle grounds regarding this matter. I agree with everything you've said; from the riots to the tragic death of everyone. It was uncalled for at all, even if it was from a "provocative political film" (as described by the director). And the reasoning you've given for the riot is true regarding that the nations that this accord in have to do something about it. Id like to add that theses nations just got out of a revelation and still unstable. The majority of the rioters (and the people who did the killings) are extrimist militias that were lookin for an oppritonity to attack; the film was the prefect trigger. And so we had this happen. In fact, some of the protesters (emphasizing the word protesters who were protesting for more stability) tried to save the people in the embassy. But unfortunately, they did not succeed.
I can assure everyone that this was the work of just a very micro grop of radical gangs that are scattered accrose the middle east with political agendas and not the majority. But unfurtunatly, thay are the loudest as said in the podcast. Of course, there should be more control on them (putting them on a leash for exsmple), but we are talking about countries that are still unstable, without a strong government, and with people who have lost hope. If you go to other middle eastern countries that are stable right now you'll never find any riots of that sort (like nothing happened). Not trying to undermined any of the unstable countries, but that's the truth, what I'm saying is stability creates better control.
Now I'm not gonna lie, I've heard of the film and saw the trailer. I felt angry and insulted. But I never thought of going out on the street and killing the first white person I saw. What I did was calm down, be civil, pray for the best, and explain to everyone why this film is wrong in every way. The majority of Muslims around the world has done the same, and the minority extremist gone crazy; which has made the matters worst, as we all know, media loves crazy and it made sure that the crazy "exciting" is loud and the civil "boring" does not exist.
I know also that the majority of the people in the US are not with this film's ideas and ideology; only a minority is. I use to live in the US for a while and know that it's an openminded country. But like every place, there are the corners where the rotten apples are that give a bad image to the rest of the country (like the people who made this film). This can be in any country in the world. Like the middle east, rotten apples can be found, which are never the representation of the area. they just stink worst than others I guess.
I know this comment has gone way to long. I just wanted to say thank you for keeping an open mind on the subject. It saddens me more than anyone that this had happened as it again tarnished the image of Islam and Muslims across the world. I just want to emphasize that these riots were done by a minority that is not, never been, and never will be part of Islam or Muslims; just the doing of a bunch of radical extremist that want the world to work according to their ideas.

The show was hilarious guys but the conversation about free speech sounds wrong to me because you guys made the argument sounds so ignorant like you want free speech but without consequences wadafuqs up with that? Everything in life has consequences sure we can have free speech and other liberties but you want it and want to ignore the consequences? Free pass for people to act a fool? Its called consequences no matter how fucked up the reaction is there is always gonna be consequences. If you cant stand the outcome dont start anything nuff said

@Kenny Mars, I was thinking the same thing about Lee and Co-Host.
I dunno if this has been answered yet, but Leon, were you thinking of Greg Horn when Greg Land's name came up. Because he does paint all his work.

Lee sounds a little bit like Co-Host. They both are half-asian aren't they? Is it possible Lee and Co-Host share a certain Japanese father... uncle?... or maybe grandfather?... great uncle? Long last brothers-in-arms!
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Also, I think we should lay off trying to convince Leon that video games are as par to story as books or movies and to stop ostracizing him for not having the same fondness for video games like the rest of us gamers. I remember my childhood; I played lots of video games as a kid and teen, and that certain childhood fondness travels into adulthood. Maybe Leon didn't have a childhood that involved lots of video games? Maybe he was born a bit earlier than Korey and that gap of years are enough to define two separate generations? I would imagine Leon as an OG. I don't try and make my father play video games or anything. Simply, maybe Leon's too old, too mature for video games.
One more thing, Dr. Michio Kaku, a theoretical physicist, and contributing theorist on String Theory, stated that humans could possibly reach 3 stages of Civilization:
Stage 1: A species is able to sustain its entire population with its planet's resources (solar, nuclear, wind, geothermal, tidal, etc.). A species is unified under one major government, or coalition of governments. A species has one dominant spoken language, and similar social structures. A species has advanced tremendously with science and technology;
Stage 2: A species is able to colonize other planets and to sustain its entire population with the resources of Stars (nuclear fission... yeah baby!) [at this point, the species cannot become extinct];
Stage 3: A species is able to explore the galaxies.
What's interesting, is that Dr. Kaku said we're at about stage 0.7. That means we're almost there, but a few things hold us back, such as fossil fuels, wars, but most prominently, terrorists. He elaborated by saying religious extremists are one of the major obstacles we as a human race must overcome to reach a Stage 1 Civilization. Religious extremists don't want to advance forward scientifically, technologically, nor socially. They want to live with centuries old dogmas and doctrines that do not fit in with modern and future times ahead. They want to live back in the 3rd century, and that thinking involves believing that violence in the name of their God is justified, and that is what is holding us back. That and also our dependencies on fossil fuels and other ignorant ideals and beliefs that lead to bloodshed, genocide, and other atrocities to our own species.

@ Konrad R.Yeah, its totally the Jew's fault that fundamentalist muslims are violent and crazy. If we would just let them wipe out Israel like their God commands they would totally become rational and secular. Quit making excuses for those fundamentalist barbarians. They are responsible for their actions not the pro-western Jews living in Israel.
