Denzel always has dialogue where he's telling someone how little they know about what they are talking about and how he clearly does know what he's talking about.

@Maverick I think you're the only guy here who's been long awaiting his absence. Why are you being an asshole?

This review's quality has increased x10 due to the long awaited absence of Brian Salisbury.

I try to say goodbye and I choke.  I try to walk away but I stumble.  Though I try to hide it, it's clear.  My world crumbles when Cyrus is not near.

I thought this movie was a brilliant character study from beginning to end. As Korey mentioned it starts innocent enough with Whip's occasional unnecessary drink and quickly becomes an episode of Intervention starring Denzel. I do strongly agree that John Goodman's character though he was funny, just didn't fit the mood the movie had set up in the scenes he was put. The airplane scene is jarring to say the least, it's extremely well done and the movies ending was very fitting. Good review guys as always NOW UPLOAD THAT ACOCO!!

When Co-Host keeps saying 'Tarantino soundtrack' does he really mean Scorsese?  I never heard Joe Cocker or The Rolling Stones in a Tarantino movie.  It's a small point but it was kinda irksome - and hey, if anyone can do rock for a movie, its Zemeckis (for me Forrest Gump had THE soundtrack that introduced me and made me love classic rock).

I just saw it tonight and really loved it, but I'd give it a matinee for the same reasons you did. and when I first saw John Goodman in this I thought 'Hunter S. Thompson and Dr. Gonzo' just like Co-Host. haha.

    @ Stanely Kubrick

It sounds like you're comparing Denzel's back to back (entire career) with pick and choose/best of movies from Deniro and Pacino. They set a standard with some great flicks but had PLENTY of stinkers themselves, I'd say there's a good chance they've had more than Denzel (been acting longer) especially in the last so many years as they've gotten older and really seem to be phoning it in at times. Kind of a biased way to compare actors Mr. K. No Book of Eli isn't consistant with Dog Day Afternoon but is Meet the Fockers or 88 Minutes, The Recruit, Righteous Kill, Bobby Deerfield or the God Father 3 consistant (in quality)with Glory, Courage Under Fire, Training Day, Malcolm X? They've all acted in iconic movies and stinkers. Maybe Denzel is just below Pacino and Deniro in acting chops (during their prime(s)) but picking and choicing flicks like that isn't the best way to support that point.

It maybe a guilty pleasure but I enjoyed Fallen. Don't know if it would hold up just 14 years later but....

...also Tragic Bronson the only movie Jackson and Washington starred in together was Mo Better Blues. You'd think they be in more but just that one.

So much of what you guys said sounds like another movie dealing with alcoholism, Smashed. You think you guys could do a compare and contrast between the two when it hits your area next week?

I can't wait to see this flick. BTW, have Denzel and Sam Jackson ever been in a movie together?
