Podcasts - THE LEAGUE OF EXTREMELY ORDINARY GENTLEMEN: Volume 9, Issue 3: Support League to the Rescue!

You know for sure it's the holiday season when your regular crew has more and more stuff in their lives displacing them from the recording schedule. Stupid lives. I coulda sworn I put something in their contracts about bowing down to the mighty LEOG before all other desires.

But never fear!

Some of our favorite recurring guests, I'd venture so far to refer to them as our current "support league" (or west-coast avengers) join in to fill the gaps and we end up with one of our funniest episodes in some time.

Especially with Kayla and another of her Non Sequitur corners...

But one word of warning...due to timing issues, we had to record and place our long-awaited "American Horror Story" conversation first. If you want to miss a spoiler-heavy talk about that show, jump to minute 39:58 on the show to get past it... then go watch all the episodes of the show, and THEN come back and listen to it.

Cyrus has spoken.

Oh, my gosh, Kayla! I saw the same movie at school! There's not f*cking puppy! We were 20 minutes in, no puppy. Then we decided, well we just wanna see the puppy, so we skip around looking for it. NO PUPPY! What a lie!!

    Huh.

I must confess, I've actually really enjoyed the fourth series of Misfits. I guess that means I have no standards whatsoever.

I really liked Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man.  I actually agree with Peter on this one.

The surgical precision of skinning someone alive was the tip off. None of the inmates struck a cord of being THAT skilled or educated.

I still don't know how to feel about the aliens. What do you get when aliens, super strong zombies, serial killer and the devil appear in one room?

@Dr. Detfink Call it taboo or whatever, I think this style like Nip/Tuck, AHS is made to be more of a shock to the audience then actual new or creative ideas.

    Great Episode.

Can you just have a talk of AHS: Murder House? I haven't seen Asylum.

@Dr. Det - Yeah, especially since they'll have Star Wars and Marvel and Pixar all under their belt. Lucas is going to make another mega-fortune.

Damn, 2 billion in Disney stock...that's actually better than the 2 billion cash money.

And - if I might continue my "rabblerabblerichpeople" rant - Lucas isn't getting paid 4 billion dollars, he's getting paid 2 billion dollars and then stock in Disney "valued at" 2 billion dollars. By selling his company now, he takes advantage of the lower capital gains tax and saves himself hundreds of millions of dollars. He has not pledged 4 bil to charity, he released a press statement saying he was committed towards donating a "majority of the proceeds" to charity, which I will bet you anything will only count the cash and not the stocks (since they are not liquid assets). So, he'll probably funnel about 2 billion into his own tax exempt company and either take a salary there, or simply use the funds as his own piggybank under the guise of "operational costs". So now you're probably saying "so, it's still 2 BILLION dollars!". Fun fact: you can deduct up to 50% of your adjusted income through charitable foundations. Half of 4 billion income? 2 billion. Lucas just walked away from the table without paying almost any of that money to taxes (which may seem inglorious but also pay for schools and roads and police and all the stuff taxes pay for) and also put 2 billion into his own pocket to dole out as he sees fit over who-knows-how-long. The coincidental timing of the upcoming increase in capital gains tax and the good PR he's getting makes the whole thing just look incredibly shady to me.
