Podcasts - Remote Viewing: Episode 42

This week, it's Halloween in January (since Cyrus missed the chance to celebrate it in October) and the Remote Viewing crew takes a break from the usual new releases and takes a look back at some of our favorite, and slightly more obscure than the usual picks, horror dvd and blu-rays. Much hyperbolic praise is given to many seemingly minor titles and you would all do well to obey the RV bidding and pick these up to see for yourself how insane or not we really are....

Re: "City of the Living Dead"  -  little surprised that you didn't mention that Fulci had to go to court over the special effects in one of his movies...  "A Lizard in a Woman's Skin" (1971) had a scene that showed dogs cut open, and Fulci and his effects man had to prove in court that they were models and not real dogs.

Watching 'Slumber Party Massacre 2' right now. Pretty much my ideal kind of movie:) Horror, 80's band chicks, hunks with puffy hair and cheese with grated cheese on top, covered in liquid cheese. Montages, flash backs... what more could you want?

Damn just when I thought you guys couldnt get more badass you bust out Ryuhei Kitamura! I own alsmost all of his movies. Versus is one of my favorite movies for sure. And Azumi is amazing. I'm a fairly big fan of Alive as well. Kind of cool to see the Versus villain and hero switch roles.

Just got done watchin House and holy shit it's a Better Than Sex from me! Loved it managed to be really artistic and visually inventive in a pretty stunning way, but also ass bustingly funny. Some moments had me in hysterics, and it's clearly ment to be a comedy (the most surreal comedy of all time but a comedy none the less). The only other film I can think of it reminded me of is The Happiness of the Katakuris, and I'd say Takeshi Miike is a big big fan of this movie.

I'm sorry, but I just don't see anything special in Prince of Darkness. I re-watched it last night just to be sure.

Midnight meat train is great and I'm sad that the movie was under the radar when it came out.

Even though Slashers are perhaps pro-woman, you have to admit that slasher films punish women. The final girl is a virgin who doesn't drink or do drugs. The ones who are horribly tortured are the ones who are sexual, dress in short clothes, talk about guys, do drugs and drink. . . the opposite of the "final girl".

Woah, I totally forgot I submitted a question for this episode. Too cool, thanks for answering it on air. And on episode 42 no less. A great episode as always, Halloween at any time of the year is awesome.

May the play button be always in your favor, Gentlemen.

seriously the song and dance segment in Slumber Party Massacre....that was the holy grail of wtf moments for me while watching a movie. Oh and in Slumber Party Massacre 3..that movie has one of the dumbest script setups EVER. Two of the guys (one who is secretly the killer) are running. The "not killer" has to stop running and says that he has a bad achilles tendon. A few minutes later the killer cuts the guy's achilles tendon and says "never admit your weaknesses" WHAT!? As oppose to all the other people who would fine afterward?

Prince of Darkness is up there with making bodily fluid transfer "Ew" worthy, even though it's more of a water pistol effect. Always cracked me up when the students working on their doctrine said, "Damn schizophrenics out there..." yea, an odd coincidence of mental illness when more and more and MORE catatonic humans are outside your door. ;)
