I'd like to clear the air a bit about the disagreements regarding this. Our reasons for disliking this game weren't entirely clear. Our points were poorly made. Our reasoning was muddy. This should clear it up: This game eats a dick.

    @metalraygear

Yeah I see what you mean. Let's just hope this was made by a second tier developer team within Platinum.

Metal Gear Revengeance is properly just another hack and slash action game, but if it's combo/skill based with tight controls and a over the top story like Bayonetta I'm happy :) It's not very often we get good action games like that.

Also I still had my unused bayonetta code..

I could have given you guys this for the low low price of free.99 but Jeff said no.

There's about 10 moves before you use your weapons or grab an object....just saying guys

Complaining about the story? This isn't Citizen Kane or Shaw shank Redemption the video game. It's a homage/parody to games like Final Fight, Streets of Rage and Smash TV! Remember how deep and involving their story's were? They barely had a story but we had fun anyway.

And the combat system's solid. There's a lock on, block, parry, counter, grapple, evade, execution, character specific special weapon and "burst mode". Another case of a negative, grumpy review because the reviewers were confused with and had trouble playing the game.

Man I'm glad I'm not alone in my love for this game. X-Men Destiny better than Anarchy Reigns? Don't you think that's a gross exaggeration? Especially considering that this game is great. I don't know maybe I'm just happy that its a damn good and fun game with multiplayer that's not strictly shooter influenced. I got a lot of Unreal Championship vibes from this game. Also heavy to Phantom Dust as well.

Haha, lots and lots of umbrage for this game.  Sorry it was terrible, but it made for an entertaining review!

@ Ultimate Snyderman you might as well tell them to start off 2013 by cutting themselves while listening to Linkin Park.

I'm really disappointed in you guys. I can't believe you guys didn't like this game. The multi-player is awesome and because there aren't many multi-player brawler games out there. I mean what others game has 16 player Battle Royale that isn't some lame ass shooter? There aren't any.

Death Ball is really fun, it's like Blitzball from FFX only it's in realtime and you aren't underwater, you can even do really cool touch down moves that can kill people. Team Death-match is fun with friends and Survival mode is there for people who like that kind of Horde Mode stuff. Really fun game and something people should try out themselves.

Seriously Loading Bar crew, this is almost on IGN God Hand review level.

I really like this game but I can understand why someone wouldn't like it

God Dam was this review funny though

First game of the year and we already have a game that creates a divide community. Honestly guys I think you guys are horribly wrong about this game. Everything about this game was a fucking blast to play, the game feel, the simple but strategic fighting system, and the fun as hell multiplayer, I can't remember the last time I have such a blast playing this game and the way you guys are just doing a bunch of microscopic nitpicking really disappoints me, and really makes you sound like one of those instant gratification babies who won't just stop and think about what your doing and throw the game down when you die once. If you would just give it time and calm down a bit you will find one of the best action games in a long time.

Spillio's...Loadies. I implore you...buy this diamond in the rough. For only 30 dollars you will have a great action brawler with fantastic characters, a simple to learn difficult to master fighting system, dozens of multiplayer modes to last you days, and a sound track that is worth the $30 alone. I don't normally preach like this, but if your one of those people who have to have a critics opinion and scores really matter to you (if that's the case shame on you) then just for once ignore the Loading Bar's overactive warnings and buy this game.

@Wolf Navy,  It's more about if they rubberstamp this crap- it may mean that they aren't taking care of their franchises, and Revengence appears to be another hanck and slash anyhow.

Decrying the use of repulsive non-white characters; a noble public service indeed. Keep the torch of western political correctness burning bright, Spill!

Shame you guys didn't enjoy AR. I'll agree with some the falts stated, its a flawed game. But i really still enjoyed it, to me; the multiplayer is the game's primary focus, while the story is more of a introduction to the games mechanics and characters.

Looking forward to your DmC review!

While quite possibly Platinum Games' weaker releases, I've really enjoyed AR. It, unfortunately, got the SEGA treatment and was delayed everywhere outside of Japan for an entire year without alerting the development crew. Any potential balance updates or future DLC are highly unlikely, as PG (afaik) have abandoned SEGA, hence the Bayonetta 2 deal with Nintendo and the Wii-U.

The campaign mode is the only aspect of the game I didn't enjoy very much.  The setting is p. cool and the characters are fun (Blacker Baron went from being annoyingly offensive to nigh Chris Tucker-levels of funny, take that as you will), but the story is severely underwhelming.  With a little more polish and emphasis on some story elements (or hell, cooperative gameplay during the campaign missions), I would've enjoyed it more.  The localization fell flat in some pieces of dialogue, too.

Multiplayer is where the game feels 'right'.  It's chaotic, it's rewarding, and there's always something going on.  But it's also frustratingly unbalanced.  While absurd amounts of fun, multiplayer can make even the most composed of gamers salty as hell.

SEGA's largely to blame for the game's failure in the West.  There was virtually zero marketing and any hype surrounding the game was destroyed after a year-long delay.  Again, not a perfect game by any means, but this isn't the worst game to debut in 2013.  That would be Devil May Cry.

Frankly I'd say buy this rather than DmC, at least the bad writing in this game is mildly entertaining and it's also half the price of that turd. In the Happyhour you guys mentioned it gave you a Dynasty Warriors vibe and I'd say it's repetitive gameplay would at least be favorable to people who play that. The characters might be a little Gears of War-ish but at least there are some weird goofy designed characters to mix it up a bit (I wasnt offended by the pimp). I think the fact that Sega released this at 30 bucks shows they realize it's not a full experience that should at least be worthy of a bargain bin title despite a bad mission selection system and repetitive gameplay.

I personally loved this game and everyone is right, the multiplayer is where all the fun is. Hell I didn't even know the game had a story mode until I bought it. Also the soundtrack is awesome and kept me pumped when fighting people online.

I highly recommend Madworld, one of the best games on the Wii. I'm not sure if this game takes itself seriously (I haven't heard of it until now) but Madworld has a very tongue and cheek vibe that fits greatly and has two hilarious commentators that are better than those in any sports game

You mean start 2013 off bad with DmC, right? I regret purchasing that crap.

So X-Men Destiny was actually better than this? Ouch. Hopefully Bayonetta 2 and Revengeance will be better.
