i dont know where you guys get your information from. the book isn't called xx, that was just a teaser image/hint. the book is x-men. and all of that stuff you said about constantine is totally false, any issue of justice league dark would tell you that. dont know his age as they never really straight out tell you how old anyone is in comics but he is definitely british (justice league dark which tells his origin has him arriving to america from england plus its evident in the way he talks) and the guy has a cigey in almost every issue. i havent really seen any change in his character since bringing him to dc

I have no defense but Avengers Arena is a guilty read especially after following Avengers Academy.

I have to say my favorite comic of 2012 is Fanboys Vs Zombies from Boom Studios, about a group of comicbook nerds who go to San diego Comiccon and then the zombie apocalypse breaks out and they try to survive. It's really funny and never takes itself seriously, with refrences to comics and videogames with some of the main characters based off Comic Writers and Movie Actors.

Are you guys serious ...barely a mention of Darkhorse's Hellboy or Goon.

Only a half whispered side mention that Lobster Johnson takes place in the Hellboy BPRD universe.

Is no one reading the Mignolaverse comics (AKA the Hellboy and BPRD comics)?

Look I can't fault anyone for just sticking to comic book movies. One, it's economically cheaper. Two, no one should ever do what they don't feel up to. I think the most successful comic book films do a good job of editing the original source material like you would a screen play that is refined over a period of time.

My love of comics is mult-layered. 1. I truly do have an American patronage to comics as form of story-telling that Americans should be proud of. 2. I love the collaborative process of writing and illustration/fine art. 3. Comic books are my "General Hospital." For me, going to the comic shop and talking books with other recognizable collectors and workers is on par with being some gossipy character in NYC with curlers in her hair talking to her neighbor about the latest Soap on TV.

So no, it's not a crime...IF you're aware of all the reasons you don't want to buy as well as all the reason why, comic book fans are so loyal to this craft which by all rights shouldn't continue to exist if not for the fans.

I haven't been able to get into comics. I prefer comic book movies to actual comics. Am I alone?

Indeed. My dream about TWD's ending involves a nod to a bigger and more interesting future of this New World. I agree on Negan being this ridiculously evil douche that pays no head to his insanity and is fully aware of how horrible he is. It's rather refreshing to say the least. It's strange when the most honest character in the entire run of the comic book is the villain who chooses to ignore gray issues and just go for the black that he interprets as white since it's him who is coming on top. I have no idea how this is going to pan out and I'm very interested. I'm fine with a #150 finally as well.

On a side note I like to think that after Kirkman is done with TWD it becomes a Game of Thrones type of thing but with zombies and nuclear weapons and global conspiracies by surviving groups of people around the world. Someone needs to jump on this. It could be a lot of fun.

    Dr. Detfink

I know in the end its all opinion, of course, but to me Invincible has really hit new heights post-Viltrumite War. I actually thought the Viltrumite War was kind of a mediocre story arc. Lots of build up but it kind of fizzled and took too long. Everything after it has been so intense. Though I do admit the recent arc with the Flaxxan's returning was just okay. But everything from the Scourge Virus coming back to Invincible teaming up with a super villain has been fantastic. Its like Kirkman said "Okay, I just had this huge 75 issue arc. What would Marvel and DC do next? Okay. I'm now going to do the exact opposite." I love how Invincible has kind of become the perfect example of why creator owned booked trump the Big 2. They can go places Marvel and DC are too terrified to go in fear of alienating their audiences. And in doing this, Kirkman only strengthens the book. However if you, Cyrus and Leon feel the book is just good, that's fine. I just wanted to get my opinion out there as well.

On a side note, how freakin' awesome is Indestructible Hulk? Easily my favorite book of Marvel NOW so far. Though Young Avengers looks like it could take the gold medal from it.

I second that, BLU Year. Those were excellent points brought up by the LEOG. I dunno how many month to month issues I can collect this without, reading it...going ok...bag, board, done. And never look at it again. I think it was between issue #60-sh to #75 to where the emotional beats became predictable.

With the current arc, Negan has changed the game in terms of comparison with the Governor. Some valid criticisms. However I still think there's a difference in terms of how the Governor was trying to bullshit his cruelty, Negan does not hide it. He's constantly reminding is people he IS fear, while the Governor kind of made it seem like the others were a threat. Now, the reactions of people in their camps are intriguing. Governor's bullshit comes to the surface, he's actually betrayed from within. That leads to his final fate. So far, Negan's people are too fearful to move against him...so it's an interesting statement on People and their fears.

I am getting to that point where Kirkman has to change the notes to his song after this arc. So if this book concludes after 200 issues, I'm ok IF there's pay off in this arc but if there's no pay off, then I wouldn't mind if #150 is the cut off for myself.

To be fair, Kirman did say he could see himself writing 200 issues of TWD. If so, I'm all for it. TWD is excellent enough to end soon.

I believe the LEOG did a villains episode couple seasons ago. Would be nice to listen to another one when the time is right. :)

Would you guys consider doing a LEOG where you discuss fictional arch villains? You know, like Lex Luthor, The Joker, Green Goblin, Voldemort, Moriarty, Kingpin, etc.

    Andrenn,

I think Cyrus and Leon just made observations on how Kirkman handled landmark issues. Please note, Cyrus is making a statement in the context of Mark Waid's, "I just write myself in a corner..." So it's not like Cyrus is frowning upon Invincible as it is about to go triple digits. It's more in the context of this title has been great for so long that is it possible it could just be "good?"

This is not to say, Kirkman's writing is subpar in comparison with Marvel or DC's handling of landmark issues *cough* ASM #700 *cough* For all of Kirkman's heckling Marvel and DC on their handling of certain arcs, he stops short when it came to over selling Walking Dead variants on #100. Essentially proving, he's STILL a business man like the rest of them.

Flash Fact: Image's Spawn has the high water mark for issue right now. Thanks to Marvel and DC re-numbering.

This brings me to my next point...boy if you don't believe the 90s are BACK in comics. I mean, just all the variants (that will be worthless in 10 years)...rumor that either Marvel or DC is doing a foil cover...and the return of Valiant just reeks of a business that is really testing the market to its fullest. We'll see if they go off the cliff or if this bull market continues. My weekly pull is absurd these days.

This was what Leon, Randy and Beau (my apologies if I forgot anyone) were referencing. I remember this very well. When Shooter was there for Valiant, the titles were selling in HOT CAKES. I mean, you needed to drop some serious cash for the first print of first 1-5 issues over EVERY title if you came in on issue 15. No one wanted to sell those bad boys at the time.

At the same time Shooter (not an easy man to work with if you ask Marvel and DC), started Defiant Comics. Such titles as Warriors of Plasm...but the title I really liked was Dark Dominion with Steve Ditko. Kind of a Dr. Strange meets the Phantom Stranger. Nifty look at how these invisible creatures prey on human beings filling them with fear.

I doubt you'll find them on trade or downloadable but I do have all of the issues in the Fink Vault.

I don't know how many of you have seen this, but given the LEOG's demographic, it seems appropriate. Enjoy.

I hate that my first comment in months is me commenting to disagree with something, but I couldn't disagree more with what Cyrus said about Invincible. I think after it finished the Viltrumite War the series has reached new heights. While the first few issues post-Viltrumite War may have been a little slow, things picked up ASAP and since then the title has been at a break neck pace doing all kinds of amazing "Marvel and DC would never dare do go this far" type things. Its freaking awesome. Invincible reaches issue #100 at the end of January and I highly recommend everyone check it out. Its the best super hero comic on the shelves. In my opinion.

I will say I agree with Leon. The death in Walking Dead #100 did feel kind of like "Well its the big 100, lets kill someone off to make it feel special." which is a shame because nothing else about that issue felt monumental like a 100th issue should.
