A fond welcome back goes out to our guest, director Emily Hagins, who has also brought along the producer of her new film, Paul Gandersman, to talk not only about the movie, premiering this year at SXSW, but to give advice on just how to get a project like this made. Listen up, future filmmakers...this is the good stuff. Also joining us is Elliot, the LEOG Lawyer, to prove that legally speaking, "Identity Thief" is bullcrap. Oh, and what's that...the news is back, you say? Hells yeah. Check it...

fuck everyone who diss anime . THIS is a porn anime.

one of the only ones with that quality on content, yes but still.

some weeks ago, the guy who was making the film adaptation of that anime studio's first known OAV(original animation for video) KITE, died . Cyrus didn t kinow what OAV meant, didn t say the name of the anime KITE (its in ENGLISH comeon!) clearly. i m not a big fan of those projects from that animation studio, but to pull off kite and mezzoforte(the video) and make them completely standalone action flicks if one gets the censored version is worth my fuckin praise. kite was good, mezzo was really good, i hope the new director doesn t mess it up too much. because i know it will be messed up.

3d can t win against 2d(making a good movie from anime hasn t been done yet).

@Joshua Balcombe--Annoyingly modest? Really? Sounds like an oxymoron to me.

Neg Primer - Just curious, because I hear the argument/historical point all the time - that the American Civil War was fought over state's rights and not slavery - what other "states rights" were the Confederacy fighting for?  Was the 13th Amendment just a power play conspiracy or was it a forward step in humanitarian progress, a righting of a wrong?

I think it would be in bad taste to have a mummified human used as decoration in ones home, along the lines of The Most Dangerous Game Taxidermy.  I also find Significantly Less Dangerous Game Taxidermy to be tacky and kitschy at best.  Mummies, however, are not all necessarily Egyptian.  Lord English's morbid bundle of joy may be Peruvian or of a Native American tribe, or even something imagineered by Disney.

You really brought on a lawyer to talk about a movie that CLEARLY wears it's own bullshit on it's sleeve? The movie was obvious about it, No one is smart for figuring it out. And no one is going to goto jail from fucking Identity Thief...

As much as I enjoy a lot of the extended universe stuff (like the Yuuzhan Vong and the fact that Jacen Solo's fall to the Dark Side really felt like the writers wanting to redo Anakin's fall, only good) I have no problem with Disney not using any of it in the next films.

And my ideal house? The Eyire Building from Gargoyles! A castle on top of a skyscraper! What's not to love?!

Loved having legal consult added to spill.com. And I found Emily Hagins' stories to be both well informed and entertaining. :)

The Empire is Space Nazi's who believe humans are superior to all other races, who take over their government, disassemble their senate, and rule with an iron fist. The Rebellion is...well, take your pick of WW2 rebellions.

I'm not saying it's not full of sources, but the conflict itself takes heavily from WW2.

@Neg Primer "Star Wars is largely based on World War 2."

@Monocle Bane. Firefly is based off the American Civil War, whereas Star Wars is largely based on World War 2. It's actually pretty interesting, because we often have this view of the Civil War being about slavery, when it really wasn't. It was about states rights vs national control. National control won, and many people in the South responded by heading west to keep outside the reach of the Union.

LOL, I dunno if it was intentional or not, because nobody else seemed to get it...but when Cyrus talks about motorboating Christina Hendricks..."You're going to a special hell." Nice Firefly reference

Man, I came to a sad and depressing realization a little while ago. I used to consider myself a Starwars fan. Then I took a step back, and realized I really only loved two of the films (NH/ESB), and only sorta liked ROTJ.

When I really only love and enjoy 2 out of the 7 theatrical films, and have not connected with most of the games, I can't call myself a fan of the series at all.

Oh well, I suddenly have a clear reason why all these recent Disney fueled Starwars announcements leave me completely ambivalent.

I read one of those agent of the empire comics and that would be a cool concept for a star wars movie, It would be like James Bond in the star wars universe that and you could have a special guest in each movie from the cannon A. trilogy.

"Elliot's Law Corner" should become a regular bit, along with "Kayla's Non-Sequitor Corner".  I wonder who Elliot's favorite fictional lawyer is?  What actor did his favorite in-court performance?  What did he think of "My Cousin Vinny"?

And yes, "Bernie" was a great movie.
