    I really wish Kojima worked on this game more because this game really misses his polish in terms of character development and story, its a shame could have been one of the best hack n slashes of all time instead its just pretty good.

    Raiden isn't just some anime themed protagonist to those that have been labeling him as such. Besides his look he's a pretty deep character, moreso than Snake in at least concept. Man was raised as a child soldier, got his head fucked with like crazy in MGS2, suffers from PTSD pretty bad at times, has a relationship he has to somehow manage despite being fucked up, has a son...wish this wasn't just skipped over for the most part in this game. And beyond allt that he basically killed his own father and half the time sees himself as a tool that's slowly becoming less human. If it wasn't for his family I don't know what Raiden would do or could be capable of. Simple stuff like family and some sense of right and wrong are the only things stopping Jack the Ripper from becoming well....Jack the Ripper.

    Raiden is a fucking gangster, MGS2 was fucking awesome and I loved him in it after I came to terms with Snake not being in it.

    I actually liked the Music in the game. it was definitely jap speed metal..all those guitar players are wicked fast and sound pretty much identical across the board. it gets boring to listen to after a while in real life but it worked well in this game. Tomb Raider is coming out in a few days yay!

    Jeff....... Jeff... Jeff... Jeff.... I am PROUD OF YOU MAN!!!! I even agreed with your points about the story, I actually wish they had made the cutscenes longer and added more story. It's like they couldn't fine the right balance of what to show and what not to show. The Final Boss was funny as hell though, the football dialogue kills me every time. I can understand why some wouldn't care for the music so that's all good and I agree that they should have added more awesome moments like the ones on File 04.

    You guys are such solid fanboys.  It feels like you are poking at MGR:R for giving Raiden some depth and meat.  Human sized foes with generic and tragic pasts, or not even.  Sam NOT going on a crazy diatribe about a sad past before or after battle is the distillation of this game's statement.  nanomachines, son.  war never changes.  Snake is Not That Important.  In the world of metal gear..  I dunno.  Maybe I'm too bias for Raiden.

    No spoilers if you can, I just want to know your thoughts on it in more detail.

    @professor Jeff

    What did you think of the final boss because I don't know what to think of it?  It was funny then the joke went to long. I'm confused by it?

    @Professor Jeff
    I would enjoy hearing you guys talk more about the Metal gear series. More about the story, characters, history, and what you like and don't like.

    I did enjoy the games to a point, it was by Solid 2 or 3 that I lost interest. But this game did look enjoyable. Thanks again guys.

    @Sub Weapons

    Yep. You can totally use sub weapons quickly by tapping the button. However, this information is not well conveyed in the game. I just loaded up the VR mission where they teach you about sub weapons. Do they mention it there? Nope. I just went back and looked at the control map, LB is 'Use Sub-weapon'. I guess if you just willy-nilly jammed a shoulder button, you could figure out that they worked that way, but for a game this focused on mechanics, this really should have been spelled out better. Especially considering that the sub weapons have a limited number of uses. I never tapped the LB because I didn't want to waste ammo without aiming and so I never came across the function. So yeah, is it there? Yep. Should it have been explained better? Absolutely.

    JEFF, YOU CAN USE SUB-WEAPONS QUICKLY! Just lock-on with the RB/R1 button then press LB/L1 to use it. And I have agree with that dog fight scene, I had my controller in my hand throughout that whole thing expecting to see that "Press YB to do awesome" to pop up, but no, it was just an action packed cut scene. I guess modern games have kind of spoiled me and now every time there's an action packed cut scene I expect to guitar hero button press my way out of it, oh well.

    P.S George is awesome, don't hate Jeff :)

    I personally always thought Raiden got a bad rap from the start, in MGS 2 he was a good character & was interesting to see Snake step into a mentor role as the games way of passing the torch to a new generation & continuing the fight after Snake dies. But I fully agree that that bait & switch in MGS2 was a dick move, & would have loved to see after you finished Raidens story to play Snakes half as well.As far as him being whiny, I didn't really see what everyone was bitching about, to me like most of us he was just young & dumb at the time we were first introduced to his character & just simply needed guidance (I.E. where Snake comes in) to make up for all his inexperience, & don't even get me starting on ROSE. But anyway that's just my opinion.

    How is Raiden a pussy? I do recall him throwing a metal gear...

    By itself, the music is great. In-game especially the bosses, it not so great...

    I give it high rental. H&S games need to start being price around 39.99 or 49.99. $60 is a damn rip.

    I'm surprised people aren't up-in-arms about the blatant homophobia. Given how quick Spillios are to take the worst interpretation of any politically incorrect comment, I'd expect such unequivocal "being gay = bad and unmanly" to be met with pitchforks. Just saying. Anywho, I don't see how turning Raiden into some ridiculous anime cliche is all it takes to get people on a character's bandwagon.

    What a suprise Professor Jeff loves Rising. however for me I love this game but the campaingn is short and the controls are not perfected but fuck this game is AWSOME. i can't justify 60 bucks for new people for how short it is but man i love this game LOW FULL PRICE.

    Taping L2 lets you toss a grenade or shoot a rocket launcher quickly. EMP grenades can be a godsend in the higher difficulties thanks to that.

    You LIFT UP a fucking METAL GEAR! Jesus.

  • February 28, 2013 at 4:37 PM, said ...

    If you used the codec after the boss fights Kevin would tell you most about the bosses, final boss is talked about the most during your fight, cause well after he dies that's end game and there would be no back story to him, so I don't see the problem only cause you guys didn't really try to get into the story, so no shit you got lost in the story cause you didn't care, for the main fact it wasn't Metal Gear Solid and still having a problem with Raiden. Heck half of your problems with the game would be explained if you only listened... And there is a quick way to use sub-weapons if you only double tap LB or L1... Man maybe you guys should stick to playing games and not reviewing... Side note you even hear the music in Anarchy Reigns, mostly all the songs are up tempo rap. Platinum Games wants to make great games and unique soundtracks to their games.

    Game was ok. Was pretty boring for me. Not to mention it has no place in the Metal Gear universe.
