It's not that people have selective memory regarding Macguire's one liners in the Raimi films, but the fact that it doesn't feel like it's apart of his character and feels like fanservice. More than that it feels forced and unconvincing when Tobey delivers the wisecracks. The scene in the first Spider-Man film where Goblin attacks the Bugle comes to mind where Spider-Man webs Jameson's mouth and says "Hey kiddo, let my mom and dad talk for awhile". That line could have worked had Macguire delivered the line without sounding like he was reading from a script.

Trailer was AWESOME! I was skeptical before I saw this one, now I'm on board. I have to disagree with some comments though, if they do get to do a second one, they shouldnt do Green goblin again, they should go for a fully fleshed out Venom, he is by far my fav Spidey villain of all time, it would certainly make up for Spider-Man 3

    OH MY GOD THANK YOU CO-HOST!!!! I couldn't agree with you on all of the issues. I know it’s a trailer, but I do feel like it’s going to be a mopy teen drama and not a superhero movie. List of complaints & two compliments;

    1) Costume still sucks…

    2) Actor's more important than the character people pay to see.

    3) Feels too much like the ultimate's more than the regular comics, of course, but that’s because it looks like they are going to introduce Spider-man in the Avengers 2.

    4) Feels like they gave up on the Lizard’s character model especially the upper body and just recycled the incredible hulk villain only to add a tail, and claws to the hands, and feet.

    5) I agree with Cyrus that it does feel like they are going to kill Gwen off of course just like in the Dark Knight with Rachel and bring in Mary Jane for the third film again just like what they’ve done with Selina Kyle, I bet a quarter.

    6) First real big complaint is that it feels like the film won’t have a sense of urgency to it where you have to defeat the villain because he’s a real threat. Just feels more like a redemption story than a good verse evil. Like with the green goblin in the 2002 film who was bat shit crazy and had the resources to put the whole of New York City and even the country in jeopardy if he wanted simply because he could.

    7) Second your FUCKING SPIDER-MAN YOU ASS HOLE!!! Ever heard of a secret identity DUMBASS!!! Letting yourself get caught without a mask on, they have camera’s that can catch the millisecond of any action these days, that’s how sporting events look so clean crisp and with social media all over the place God and everybody will know who the fuck you are, putting your family and friends at risk because you couldn’t learn to keep the mask on. (I know its a movie but this kind of shit has got to stop with the actors being more important then the fucking story).

                1)      Now I do have two compliments; first being the action is definitely more fluid in its approach to how he combats his foe’s that is good but with motion capture the way it has evolved thanks in part to avatar and a multitude of films before and since that you just won’t need animators to make it look real anymore.

                2)      I do like how they approached the mechanical web shooters, alright fungusmonkey I said it I liked the web shooters. I still just don’t think it’s logical, or even fiscally possible for a high schooler to build a device that has the ability to make webby as strong as or even stronger than nanite steel. But that’s the magic of Holly Wood.

    2 things.

    1. Funny how you guys give Spiderman 3 and then suddenly hate it. Real nice...

    2. I guess this is the closest I'm getting to hear a (500) Days of Summer review.

This movie looks really good, but I wish they had done the same as the Spectacular Spider-man tv series and simply set the film early in Spidey's career. We don't need to see another origin story again. Now having said that, I think this movie will blow the overrated Rami films out of the water. The best part of the first Rami film was the first 40 minutes. They did a great job with the origin story, but it all went down hill with the introduction of the Goblin. The Green Goblin was overacted, had terrible dialogue, and looked ridiculous. Furthermore he had no real plan or goal to make me care about him, he just "tempted" Spidey in these ridiculous cheesy scenes about how people turn on heroes. That scene of Goblin hiding in the burning building wearing a cloak to trick Spiderman? The scene of him singing the itsy bitsy spider? Come on. Theres a difference between being light hearted and straight cheese and that movie crossed the line several times. I think the first Rami movie will be looked at like the Tim Burton Batman. A necessary first step to making an even better series, but it just doesn't hold up years later. Both films kicked off an era of super hero films and people had never seen anything like them before so they overrated them.

it's just like the first episode of the 1994 animated spiderman series. just no mary jane. hope they use the same kick ass intro music with the electric guitar. "SPIDER POWERS, SPIDER BLOOD, SPIDER MAN."

actually it was said in the 1994 spiderman show that when he got bitten by the spider it was instinctive for him of how to make the webs and the shooters. so really it wasn't about the technology being around him

I think 4 things are essential to Spider-man's appeal: his humor, his costume, his powers, and his nerdy intellect used for crimefighting.

Raimi only got 1.5 out 4 right (costume and some of his powers). It looks like Marc Webb is trying to 3 for 4 (excluding the costume to some extent).

Sam Raimi nailed Spider-Man! Spidey 3 was studio pressure and that's why it was a disjointed movie! Spider-Man 2 was one of the best super hero comic movies ever!

Yawn seen this too recently! Not interested! I am a massive Spidey fan, I have a games room that is full of Spider-Man merch. Just so disappointed to have to go back to the start again! I don't want the-Man to become like X-Men and get endlessly butchered!
